LFC.tv reporting that Baros and Smicer were called up by Czech Republic.

No mention of Sami or Didi.

I found it in an Ormondroyd column. He does these monthly recaps for the Guardian using stick figures, and they're hysterical. I downloaded the report that was in the link below and cropped everything else out of it. I wanted to do it when it came out, but then he scored a few goals and I had to put it on hold for a bit.

A good summary of international duty, from the official club Web site:

29 March 2003 : by Steve Hunter
Reds stars in international action

Liverpool have nine players flying their flag for their country in international Euro 2004 qualifiers on Saturday.

All eyes will be on the England four of Michael Owen, Steven Gerrard, Danny Murphy and Emile Heskey who will be hoping to get their country back on track as they face Liechtenstein in Group seven. Owen, Gerrard and Heskey are certain starters while Murphy faces a waiting game to see if he gets the nod for the troublesome left sided midfield role.

In Group nine Liverpool captain Sami Hyypia is in action for Finland in Italy, but former Reds ace Jari Litmanen misses out through an achilles injury.

Milan Baros and Vladimir Smicer are with the Czech Republic side for their tough Group three clash in Holland, while Dietmar Hamann plays for Germany against Lithuania in Group five.

Jerzy Dudek is also in action for Poland as they host Hungary in a Group four clash, but there was disappointment for Igor Biscan who was left out of the Croatia squad to face Belgium.

And RedKnight says in one post what I tried to say in four.

Nothing unusual there...

Well, Steve Hunter did, actually.

I was just the copy-and-paste
guy on the project.

Do I need to tell you what an over-the-hill, injury-prone Liverpool striker just did in the 28th minute?

Off a cross by some guy named Heskey, btw.

They also have Smicer starting for the Czechs in their match against Holland. Any guesses as to what former Liverpool player is listed as the back-up keeper for the Dutch?

Smicer staring; Baros on the bench.
Hyypia starting for Finland against Italy.

The text comm from soccernet.com
implied that Gerrard had gone off
with a slight knock in the second half . . .
we'll have to see if it's anything serious.
No injuries reported to the other three
Reds that played for England today.

Didi played the full ninety in Germany's
1:1 choke-job against Lithuania.

The mighty Sander Westerveld!
I saw that, too.

Baros came on for Rosicky in the 67th.
Smicer came off after 79 and also picked up a yellow.

Oh, yeah. An Dudek gets the shutout in a draw with Hungary. According to the LFC site, he had a big save in the second half.

Heskey a doubt for Turkey clash

Emilie Heskey is a doubt for England's Euro 2004 qualifier with Turkey on Wednesday after sustaining a knee injury in the 2-0 win over Liechenstein.

The Liverpool striker picked up the knock shortly before the interval and was later replaced by Wayne Rooney.

England coach Sven Goran Eriksson says: "My plan was to take off Paul Scholes, but unfortunately Emile Heskey got a knock on his knee which became worse and worse. That's why I took him off instead."

Heskey now faces a race against time to prove his fitness before England take on the Turks at the Stadium of Light in three days time.

Rueters on the Dutch-Czech game:

"Rosicky gave way to Milan Baros after 68 minutes and the Liverpool forward's first touch was to provide Jan Koller with a close-range equaliser"
