Wowwweee Kazowee, folks..
Revs defeat Columbus 1-0 on a goal by Jeff Larentowicz in the 34th minute.
Revs look like they had no clue what to do with the man advantage for 30 minutes, and Matt Reis saves the Revs butt with a PK save late after a Riley got stupid moment.
Most importantly, 3 POINTS! (Clap clap clap) 3 Points (clap clap clap)

Looking at the other results this weekend, hooooboy did we need the three points.

I only got to watch the last 2 minutes. I got a text from a friend at the game saying "GOAL LARENTOWICZ". I nearly had a heart attack.
If MLSgear.com didn't suck so bad I would be wearing my Larentowicz jersey right now.

Good win by you guys. Right now we're the suckiest sucks that ever sucked a suck. Especially Gaven.

thank god. I won't go hoarse yelling because of his horrible first touch for two weeks now.

No no I meant Shalrie Joseph, I think he's been on yellow card watch for a while.
Ngwenya will deff be suspended for next game.

This is very discouraging. Frankly, Larentowisthsjhdf's goal was, well, a garbage goal, and the fact that we still can't score, even when a man up for half an hour is not good.

What happened to that kid? After the u-20 tourney last year he totally flamed out.

Yes, Feldman mentioned that Joseph would miss the next game, which is just BS IMO b/c he's been one card away from suspension for practically half the season. MLSnet has had the good incentive games number at N/A ever since Joseph got his fourth

So maybe we'll see Larentowicz and Dempsey in the midfield @ Columbus? ...probably not, probably Dorman in the middle and Dempsey up top

Watching the game on Direct Kick (thanks Time Warner for finally working), here are my thoughts:
The Pros:
1) Always nice to get 3 points, especially on such a tough weekend for the table
2) The work rate was great to see, we made a few bad passes but thought the on-the-ball pressure and desire to move forward was some of the best we've seen in recent weeks
3) The revs made good use of the flanks and width to create opportunities
The Not-So-Good:
1) Rielly has taken a step backwards this season. It's good to see him stepping with confidence and the yellow card was BS but the handball could have killed us and he got caught a few times out of position
2) Khano still has a long way to go. What worries me is not his fitness (though that was lacking), what worries me is his decision making. His passing on the breakaways and sorry flick-ons reflected an attempt to do too much.
All in all, a good team effort and I'm looking forward to drinking my way through the re-match next week

Not an impressive win but a win non the less - thanks to Reis saving the Rev's (and Riley's) bacon again. Nicol seemed to be answering his critics by not only by fielding a faster, offense oriented line-up, but also using all three subs!
Smith is something else. He brings speed to the game and you never know when he might score an amazing goal but most of his play is complete crap.
Feldman mentioned that Joseph would miss the next game, which is just BS IMO b/c he's been one card away from suspension for practically half the season.
I think it might actually be good for Joseph to get this off his back. I think he hasn't been his usual self since he's been overly concerned about getting another yellow. Hopefully, this will help his game once he returns (along with giving him an extra week of rest).

khano is great at running at goal. he suck at passing and has zero touch. aweful.
twellman is quickly becoming useless. mediocre hussle. I'm beyond frustrated and disappointed.
shalrie looked a lot better, still not his best but encouraging.
Dorman... what can you say, he;s the man, so is parkhurst and reis.
thank god for the camera man and the replay on the board. the ref actually got the yellow yellow red right.
How we did nothing with a man advantage is disgusting. We got he 3. we needed it bad (chi and deadballs both one). we're still in trouble. I'm still annoyed, but at least we know when are abck is against the wall we have a few guys who can step up (unfortuantely it seems to be the same 3 or 4 each week)
flip side... what happened to gavin? I had such huge expectations for him. makes me thing of buddle and martino and stzela?? is colombus where great potential talent go to die slowly and quitely?
too early to start the thread for next week, but we barely did it at home with a 1 man advantage for almost 1/3 of the game. thinking ahead... yikes... not encouraging

Here's an alternate spin: SN says to Smith: (Sorry - can't do the Tom Hill phonetic Nicol) "All I want you to do is run up and down the left flank - stay wide and cross the ball - that's it!" Smith takes him at his word, and doesn't do what was most impressive about him last year namely attaack the keeper and score.
I didn't think Riley was bad at all, except twice - the hand ball, and he was MIA on a right side break fluffed by Rozental(?). There's a lot of responsibility on a three man back line and he's still growing into it.
Yes, we won, but the scoring funk continues.
I think SJ can use the break.
Is it so hard to spell Larentowicz?

btw, KC is winning in extra time... we won and we're still in 4th
I'm pissed.
Suddenly that home loss to RSL is nothing less than disasterous:mad:

YES!!! he is a complete enigma to me.i don't know if i'm going to laugh or cry when he gets the ball every time.
so what's the bigsoccer verdict on cancela for this game? mentions in this thread are conspicuosly absent.
I thought he was just fine, no better or worse than his midfiled/fwd teamates. earned his check, but not a bonus.

Chris Sullivan seemed to love him on FSC. I thought he was ok. If other players aren't making the runs, Pepe can't feed them the ball. I also thought the surface screwed with his game a little.

I just watched most of the 2nd half. Cancela seemed like he slowed up the game, which is good to protect the lead by slowing up play, but bad if the Revs were trying to get the killer goal. Also the conditions have to be taken into account, it seemed that nobody was passing the ball well due to the weather.
I was surprised he stayed in the game so long, usually he's taken out around minute 60 or 70. A good shift from Pepe though.

I agree. Not one his best games but far from his worst. As usual, he did tend to slow the game down a bit at times.

Twellman is playing like a player who is getting payed 180,000.
3 points, good start for the home and home series. I'm not surprised the revs didnt score after joseph ngwenya got red carded because most teams who are down a man will pack it in. I saw something out there tonight i havent seen in awhile (besides the win), some creativity. It was spotaneous. It wasn't drawn up on a clipboard. It was refreshing, and they need to keep doing that.
