Below are the schedules of the contenders. All have seven matches remaining, four of which are away.
Notice all of ManU's opponents are from the upper half of the table, plus their two toughest matches are away. They clearly have the hardest schedule.
Newcastle's last five games are against teams that are from the lower half of the table, including two against clubs that are already virtually doomed to Division One.
Aside from the ManU match, the critical games for Arsenal may be against Bolton, which will be fighting relegation, Boro (only one home defeat), and incredibly, Leeds, which lost again today and is in some danger of going down. It will be quite an accomplishment for Peter Reid if they do, as he also managed Sunderland this season.
My prediction is that the clubs will stay in their current order and finish with 83, 80, and 78 points.
