Does anyone have a link to the mauling that Ben Thatcher put on Pedro Mendes? I've seen it and it's got to be one of the worst, most blatant, and disgusting attempts to injure a player I've ever seen. Thatcher should be banned for many, many matches and probably for the whole season. Interesting to see if the FA will have any balls on this one - they may be more likely to react since it's City and a small name player. If it was Chelsea and one of their galacticos I bet they'd ignore it.

I agree - he deserves at least a 10 game ban for that. he should also be arrested for assault. I am so glad we got rid of thatcher - he is a f***ing disgrace.

Michael Brown's was blatant, yes.
As for Thatcher, he's got a track record doing this sort of shit. Nine years ago he elbowed Paul Kitson (then of West Ham) clean in the head for no reason. While at the same team, three years later he took it upon himself to knock Nicky Summerbee out (much like Mendes) during a match.
Also, during pre-season this year, he took out Shanghai's Yang Chun Chang, who suffered a punctured lung because of the assault (note the use of word as opposed to "tackle") on him. And now Mendes. That's four people he's put in hospital. The khunt should be banned for months rather than games. If the FA don't do anything, i'll lose the little bit of respect I had left for them after they managed to fcuk up the punishments in the Ashley Cole saga.

I just saw the horrendous incident now (thanx for pointing me to the link to view it).
He should be banned for the season.
The FA should throw the book, the sink and whatever other tools they have locked away in the basement cupboard down at Soho Square at him.
Things like that don't belong in football.

Dear Manchester City,
Hopefully this will not be the only email you receive about this matter. Having witnessed tonight's incident I have to say how disgusted I am, out on the street such actions are considered assault and are worthy of a court appearance at least.
Accidental you may say but nevertheless a forward motion at speed was made by your player towards the face of an opponent, that player will spend the night in hospital after being carried off with an oxygen mask over his mouth.
I am sure you are aware of all these things and know more than I do, but I sincerely hope you register your displeasure with Mr Thatcher and that satisfactory punishments are issued. The fact he was only yellow carded is ridiculous, so perhaps the club should implement their own punishment for this - people have been sent off for much less and he is lucky that Pedro Mendes is not hurt any worse than he is.
I am also sure that Thatcher is very sorry for what he has done and it was not his intention to do any damage, but that is irrelevant. Facts are facts. It would be good for your club to speak publically about this incident, offer apologies to Mendes and perhaps even go and see him in hospital.

Good on you mate. You're right with what you say, that probably isn't the last email they will recieve. Supposedly City have suspended him and fined him until they decide what they are going to do. Still no word from the FA though. What a surprise.

It's tricky though because I am going on holiday for three weeks on the 15th Sept, so anything I set up now has to wait til I get back... but generally I just get rejected. It's quite annoying really. But in all honesty I haven't really been looking seriously, applying for jobs and that but none are ones I really want. Keep looking though!

yes, i would go as far as to say that your email did infact get him suspended.
please start emailing every team right before tottenham plays and ask them to suspend a player. worked for juve.

He should face LEGAL action! :mad:
If not in the criminal courts, then Mendes should at least sue!
