Hunt on for Seol..71st minute.

Same comment as for Convey, but none of the Royals is impressing thus far. Certainly this is not the same squad that came back from 2 down one week ago...

I missed it earlier, but apparently Seol got a yellow card before departing.

I actually saw it..it was pretty bad. Tackled a guy right before the ball went out and then there was a bit of pushing.

81st minute. Damn it. Score! Please?

Wigan continues to control play and threaten Hanneman's net, but they are being betrayed by the final touch. Valencia, Landzaat and Connelly have all had better than half chances, but have not been able to get the shot on frame.

Horrid corner and then a yellow to Sodje.

Kick save (and a beauty) by Hannemann on Connelly(?) is a miracle save and keeps Reading hopes alive...

He really should have scored.. I mean..wow. But nice job by Marcus.

Corner to Reading..and I think it was Lita..runs into the keeper. Now yells at the ref. Crap.

Long on. I missed who came off.

Edit: it was Harper who came off.

Holy crap! One on one with the keeper but a save off a shot from Lita. Damn it.

4 minutes extra time..

Damn, that should have been a corner. I think it hit his thigh. Crap.

Crap..just 1 minute 20 seconds left. A shot from Doyle after a nutmeg is saved. Damn it.

A cross into the box is held..that will probably be it. Damn it.

1-0. FT. 3 points after 3 matches. The Man City and Sheffield United matches are huge.

Disappointing effort. I was hoping to at least split the points here. Convey and Seol were basically anonymous, Lita blew chances he has generally finished in the past and no one in the defense had an answer for Heskey and Connolly. I would like to point to fatigue as the answer, but the team had better be ready for the schedule to be like this or they will have a very short stay in the Prem. It really showed Dave Kitson's value, not only on the field but allowing Lita to come of the bench and run at tired D's. Oh, well, here's hoping for a better result next weekend.

On the bright side, I'm really happy the international break is next weekend. At least that will give Kitson the chance to get healthy and hopefully be ready for the game against Manchester City. If he wasn't available, I wouldn't feel too good about that game. Well, I still don't, but I'd feel worse.

Reading are run off the ball way too easily. The wingers are back in their own half with their backs to goal. Sodje atleast held his own. We are missing a large presence on set pieces obviously (both injured). Good thing the international break is here, we need it.

Give credit to Wigan for just being better on the day, but it was a frustrating match to watch, because we couldn't get anything going. I really don't like playing it back to Marcus and having him kick it 7/8ths of the field, especially without a large presence up front, it just doesn't work.

Very disappointing. Really thought Reading had a chance of picking up 3 points, but Kitson and Sonko's absence didn't help matters.

In short, they looked knackered. Hopefully, they'll get De La Cruz and Bikey up to speed during the break.

Cannot afford to waste the chances Reading had in the end, if Reading is going to survive.
But, let's just hope they weren't ready for a second game in four days.
I do think this game pointed out the absolute need to get one more player in, a mid. harper was off, and there were no real options.

I was fairly frustrated with the how open Wigan's players were. A lot of uncontested headers and traps on balls that were played from distance. The central defense seemed like they could not follow the give and goes. Just my observations....

I know, I keep thinking about doing it, my schedule allows me to watch the games now, I work midnights so i get off saturday morning and go straight home and watch soccer all day now, same for sunday. Wednesday not so much, but i atleast put it on and listen while I sleep!Allow me to second the initial comment favoring TiVo; TiVo really changes your life. No more worrying about TV schedules. Of course you will still want to watch live games as much as possible to avoid spoilers, but it is an incredible luxury to not have to worry about missing your TV shows and soccer games, and with a game you can pause and rewind and watch it over again if you want to, or save the game or show (using TiVo2Go) to your computer, burn it to DVD, etc. It's what the VCR promised to be, but never could deliver on: effortless time shifting of your TV viewing. You can get DVRs from your cable or satellite company, but it's not going to have all of the features or ease of use of a TiVo. Due to my schedule I would have been screwed during the World Cup without my TiVo. Here's a good forum for TiVo stuff:

Was it just me or did a lot of the passbacks to Hahnemann seem awefully short?

You're not alone. I've watched the replay of Wigan's goal and I can't tell if Sodje was trying to head the ball back to Hahnemann, or if he was just trying to block the cross. The end result was a perfect assist.

Hahnemann had to haul ass to get to a few other passbacks.
