Guys I just had one litterally a couple mins ago. I am a DCU fan. I have lived in NOVA for three years and have always seen them on CSN and I always see their coverage and watch because I like soccer. But yesterday I saw that they were playing in the Open Cup and I just checked the result and I said YES!!! in my brain and thats when it hit me. Shouldnt be a prob right? Lemme tell u bout my past.

I started watching soccer during the 2002 FIFA WC. I used to live in Albany, NY and was following NY teams like Islanders, Knicks, and Mets at that time. So I became a...metro fan. I loved them, always watched them online and even cheered for them at RFK twice. I cant explain it but last summer I just stopped follwing them, and MLS altogether. I mean I watched MLS Cup and USMNT but I was not a fan of any team. Then this year I wanted to get back into MLS have been watching DCU games w/e they're on and cheered for the team a little bit but never really cared if they won. But just now...that YES feeling. I know I am becoming a fan of DCU. I am actually in college in Richmond and they are offering tickets to DCUs game agaisnt the Kickers nest Wednesday and I am going to go and cheer for United.

I know I have a checkered past with sticking with teams and team selection (I only consider myself a FAN of USMNT and maybe the VCU teams all other teams in other sports none. So what do you say guys? Can I be a fan of your team?

It's easier to root for a winner, isn't it?

Maybe you should go buy yourself a Chelsea kit and root for them when they're in the states next summer making a ton of cash.

typical.

It was just as easy to root for this team in 03, when they squezzed into the playoffs on the last game of the season, then got throttled out in the first round. The barra was just as loud then as it is now.

face it, you don't hate us. You hate the fact that you love us.

That's an understandable feeling to have. You even have a right to wear your loyolty to your club as a badge and be proud of it.

However, I think it's unfair of you to paint the poster with that brush and automatically discount everything else about a team that can win a person over.

Don't forget, DCU maintained solid attendance even when they weren't winners. The argument can certainly be made that there might be a lot more to it than fanboy behavior.

Your day will come. Naturally I really don't believe that, but you're allowed to have that fantasy. ;)

I was once accused (by a Metros supporter) of being a frontrunner fan for supporting DC United. This was in 2001.

It was then that I began to question the intellectual capacity of the typical Metro fan. I guess he must have thought I had been swayed by the defensive genius that was Thomas Rongen, and the supremely disguised genius of Otero.

Wait, do you mean Matt doesn't have a dog, or that the dog he has isn't very fast?
