Seems like Cruise is finally going to feel the backlash of going mental in public on us:
Paramount ends production deal with Cruise (http://today.reuters.com/news/articleinvesting.aspx?view=CN&storyID=2006-08-23T000228Z_01_N22285827_RTRIDST_0_MEDIA-CRUISE-UPDATE-1-PICTURE.XML&rpc=66&type=qcna)

I can't wait for him to show up, a la Charro and Little Richard, as one of the has-been celebrities on a Geico commercial.

Paramount honcho Sumner Redstone and his flak, as quoted by the big fat NY Times:
“His recent conduct has not been acceptable to Paramount.”
“It’s a business decision, and it’s based on his behavior.”
Redstone according to snarky blogs:
"We don't think that someone who effectuates creative suicide and costs the company revenue should be on the lot."
Ooooooh, Tom! You so crazy!

PS: If there's a god Trey Stone and Matt Parker will issue another Xenu-based press release (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5286835)about this.

He still makes money, though MI III made significantly less dollars than the previous films in the series. Mission: Impossible III made $133.4M still a big hit box office wise for a so/so summer of movies.
Here's a link to Cruise's box office

With the foreign receipts factored in, the total revenue from his last two movies (both for Paramount) are a billion dollars ($400M for MI:III and $600M for War of the Worlds). It seems crazy that Paramount dumped him. The guy is kooky but so are many other Hollywood stars. I wonder if Paramount knows something about Cruise that isn't public.
