Sorry if you know this, but its very useful info considering how much the boyz will be on Setanta this year.

As you're likely aware, you can only get Setanta on DirecTV currently. (Setanta is allegedly negotiating with DishTV but provided me no details on progress or when we might hear something concrete. Technically, it may not happen till next year. . if that).

However anyone with a wireless connection CAN get Setanta via broadband tv services provided by www.itvn.com. They are like a satellite or cable company, but you get the service through your internet as follows:

1 - pay only $15/month for Setanta. No other costs. It's the same as paying via DirecTV

2 - You connect their box to your modem (or a wireless router, even) and then connect the box to your tv with AV plugs. PRESTO.

3 - the technology is not as crisp as normal tv but reviews are favorable, with most saying its better than internet streaming video, and most similar to normal tv picture.

4 - DO NOT confuse the online service from Setanta.com with this. Only the itvn broadcast is a direct copy of the actual broadcast.

You do pay $5 a month for the ITVN service. But the hardware comes free if you order Setanta, if I read it right.

Haven't ordered yet. Still debating based on some of the reviews I saw on this in either the TV zone or the Premiership zone, I can't remember which. There's a long thread about it, at any rate.

Or you can get an FTA receiver and point a 30" Dish with a Linear LNBF towards 61W Amazonas. Setanta Sports USA is free on that satellite.

The deal is, you pay $14.95 a month for Setanta and you get a free receiver when you sign up for a years' service. Your first bill will be for the first and last month of the agreement, and after the year is over, you keep the receiver and can pay a la carte for any of the channels offered, including Setanta.:D

So I assume you have it, what brand of wireless router do you run and how is the reception?

I'm thinking of doing this and throwing a small TV in my computer room for matches. That will keep the wife [Big Brother, Super Nanny, etc] and Child [Backyardigans, Sponge Bob] happy!

I have a Thomson router and it works like a charm. If you are going to be in the computer room, just run an ethernet cable since you'll be close to the router and you'll be loving it.;)

Great, care to walk me through the French instructions? :)

This might help:

http://babelfish.altavista.com/

Even with my limited knowledge of French (three semesters, 10 years ago) it only took me about 10 minutes to get the program up and running. I'm watching Spain vs. Northern Ireland right now.

The picture is about the same quality as Liverpool's live game footage this season, i.e. not bad, especially for a free program. There's a really good selection of European and U.S. channels, along with some Middle Eastern ones.

Thanks for the info, jpatel1508!

I just installed it like a normal .exe setup file. I know very little French words, but it's simple to install this program. Here's a step by step guide to install it.
Step 1, open the installion program and click on the dashed bit.
http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=3335822
Step 2, do the same thing.
http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=3335823
Step 3, do the same thing.
http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=3335824
Step 4, do the same thing and wait for it to finish installing.
http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=3335824
Step 5, installation is finished...click on the dashed bit.

Now, open MaxTV Online application from your the directory you saved the program in...should be Start, then Program folders...you should see it there.
Click on Next 7 times, then click on Finish. Then press OK.

Now go back to the MaxTVOnline folder and click on the application. Now click on the link in the middle of the screen about MaxTVOnline.
Now click on the Television tab (remember to click ont the MaxTVOnline link in the middle of the screen before doing this step).
Now scroll down and double click on the Setana Sports 1.

Now click on the Regarde tab to watch Setana Sports. Wait a few mins for buffering.

Why when I watch Setanta is it squished to the middle of the screen? Width wise I mean because height wise it's fine.

I got a pic here of sorta what it does

Earlier it looked fine. Also very nice program. :D

Yeah, same thing happend to me. The screen is squashed...but atleast the quality is really good.

I'm gonna find out if there is a way around the screen resolution so I can get a 1:1 picture ratio. I'll post if I have any luck with this.

Someone else on this forum says their's looks fine, perhaps something we did wrong? Because at one time today it was perfect.

EDIT: Good news. I got it to go back to full screen. :)

Went in really easily on this computer. I have Finland vs Portugal on right now and it looks as good as one would expect on a 6 inch screen. It buffers occasionally but not bad at all.

Trouble is, do I want to come to the office at 4:30 am on Saturday???????

My home computer is charcoal fired and would buffer constantly. One day I'll get Sharon's laptop (or get my own) sorted out for wifi and go to the local Starbucks.

Sammi just scraped the post with a header from a FK. And Stig, Jari is still picking up yellow cards..:)

How did you get it back? Mine is squished as well.

Picture is great though.

I just clicked download and run and followed what "looked like" the right responses. Same as I do in English, I don't always understand that either.
It put up the Maxtv icon on the desktop and I open it from there.
Some good looking programs as well.
