Former Premiership star Paolo Di Canio has been left with an injured leg after being involved in a brawl with a fan who called
him a ”faded Fascist.”

Fiery Di Canio played for Charlton, West Ham and Sheffield Wednesday before moving back to his native Italy where he
signed for boyhood club Lazio.

He was attacked with a broken bottle after right wing hardcore Lazio Ultra fans surrounded him and jeered him for being a ”faded Fascist.”

They taunted him and said he was not a ”true Fascist” and that he should be ”ashamed” for betraying Fascism.

Di Canio’s extreme views are well known and he has expressed his admiration for wrtime dicator Benito Mussolini and has the
word ”Dux” (Duce) tattoed on his arm.

Since his return to Lazio he has been in trouble with football authorities for making Fascist salutes after scoring and has been fined twice.

Police said that the player had been involved in a fight with a fan after insults were hurled as Di Canio left a restaurant.

He is said to have retailated after the fans then began to insult his wife and children.

Di Canio, who left Lazio earlier this summer for Rome’s third team Cisco, was enjoying a meal with his new team mates at
Viterbo, north of Rome, when the brawl erupted.

He was surrounded by at least six fans one of who had a brokn bottle and who struck the player on the left leg.

Officers were called to the scene and both men were taken to the local police station where they were questioned and released without charge.

Di Canio’s injury was described as “cuts and bruises” to his left calf muscle and it is not expected to rule him out from the start of the new season.

*wipes a tear away* That has made my season. I know I'm happy at somebody getting stabbed but Paolo Di Canio has been so ingraciatory throughout his career that the fact it has come back to bite him makes me very happy.
