FDA's story is well worth reading, too, particularly for the wisdom of Steve Nicol, who reminds us here that, face it, playing your "home" match on the opponent's field in a Cup tournament is better than not playing in a Cup tournament at all.

Not a bad day actually: go to the Riders meeting, then make it back to town for perhaps a bit to eat and then a Revolution scrimmage I can watch some walking distance from my apartment. If the weather's nice, then so much the better.

Besides, I can tape the MLS opener.

seriously, though. Is the fake turf in Nickerson Field the same stuff that is going to be used in the Home Depot complex in LA?

I've seen a few Breakers games at Nickerson, and the turf didn't seem too awful. The ball does look funny when it bounces on the stuff, though, because it looks like some spray or dust comes up with each bounce.

I was walking on Dragon Stadium in Southlake, TX a couple of weeks ago, I know the look and feel.

Better than I thought it would be, but 'different' just-the-same.

Seems like it would be fun to roll on. Gives the sense of having a 'padded fall', even if all those little rubber pellets get in your shorts.
