Defense is worrisome. Injuries moreso. That said, we should still win 1-0.

Preferred line up
Given
Carr Taylor Moore Baba
Milner Emre Parker Zoggy
Duff Ameobi
Need a good start and an early goal. WIth that, we should be able to finish the game with a comfortable 2-0 or 3-0 win.

Solano for Milner...
This is the kind of game that Milner needs to start. If he is going to be a part of this squad, given our crowded fixture list, these are his games to shine. Solano can't produce every 4 days.
Also I have doubts about Shola. Is this the game Luque gets his chance for 90 minutes?

OK I agree to rest Solano, but if there is a problem with Shola then I'd say Solano needs to start

Luque gets his chance for 90 minutes?
I think I am the only newcastle fan to still have faith in Luque, so of course i think this should be his 90 minute game.
In my opinion, it is hard to get a true picture of a player if he is only on for 20 minutes or less. His time to start should come now, instead of when we have 4 injuries and are scrapping for points in the EPL.

--------------Luque
---------------Duff
--Zoggy---------------------Milner
-----------Emre--Parker
--Baba---Bramble--Moore--Ramage
This would give Milner, Luque, and Ramage all the chance to get in 75-90 minutes and build their confidence. I also think it wouldn't be a terrible idea to use Taylor in these matches to help him regain his form. Then again we can't afford to do that at the cost of being knocked out of Europe.

Harps Set For Action
GLENN Roeder will check on the fitness of a handful of key players ahead of the UEFA Cup return leg against FK Ventspils after a few knocks in the weekend win over Wigan Athletic at Gallowgate.
And while he was keen to keep his cards close to his chest, he did reveal that Steve Harper is likely to take over from Shay Given for the game against the Latvian league leaders.
Roeder added: "There is every chance that Steve Harper will get his first start of the season.
"Shay's back is not perfect at the moment, he picked up the muscle injury in Latvia in the first leg and while it was OK at the weekend, it's not yet fully cleared up and with games on Thursday and then Sunday, the chances of him figuring in both of them would be remote.
"I have massive confidence in Stevie when he put the gloves on, and I'm sure he will be looking forward to playing."
Off the official website, so looks like God's going to rest Thursday. BBC also says that Shola and Moore are doubts, but that everyone else should be available.

From the BBC
Newcastle v FK Ventspils
Uefa Cup
2nd qualifying round, 2nd leg
Thursday, 24 August
St James' Park
Kick-off: 1945 BST
Newcastle goalkeeper Shay Given is expected to miss the home tie with Ventspils because of a back problem.
The Republic of Ireland international only made it through the win over Wigan after having a pain-killing injection.
Steve Harper is likely to deputise between the posts with Dutch teenager Tim Krul moving up to the bench.
Magpies striker Shola Ameobi (hip and hamstring) and defender Craig Moore (knee) remain doubts but Nicky Butt has recovered from a migraine.
Our team:
Harper, Krul, Carr, Ramage, Bramble, Moore, Taylor, Babayaro, Parker, Emre, Solano, Duff, Butt, N'Zogbia, Milner, O'Brien, Pattison, Ameobi, Luque.

I'll dare say the two words that make me angry everytime I hear them:
Partizan Belgrade
Remember the second leg of the CL qualifiers? 1-0 away win followed by a disaster at home that has set back the club ever since.
Hopefully, this is a new dawn.

Since for some reason my WMP Plug-Ins aren't allowing me to listen to the match via Century FM, will someone be updating the match on here?
