VOOM HD Networks (www.voom.com) is owned by Rainbow Media and was once its own niche satellite service. However it is now just a content provider, as it could not compete with the big boys, i.e. DirecTV (Rupert Murdoch) and Dishnetwork (Charlie Ergen). VOOM currently is only available on Dishnetwork but is rumored to be coming to other providers soon. I've seen it and there is nothing better than watching soccer in widescreen and high definition. VOOM's WorldSport HD broadcasts La Liga matches (game of the week) and European basketball.

High Definition would kill..
However the wide screen aspect I already get. I just hook the back of my laptop to my 42" and watch the game streams.

Oh shit!!!!
Ahaha wonderful - I already have Dish Network, and the HD package, and GolTV, and FSC... I will never leave my house. I had Barca-Atleti on the other day (there was nothing else on) and the HD was sick. Oh man this is wonderful news!!

There are many illegal ways to watch RM in europe, dont know about USA though. Its unbeliveable how far the "hacking" technology has achieved.

No realy, this is a big loss for huge companies like SKY, CANAL+, PREMIERE (germany), Kiosque, TPS etc. They loose milions because of that.
Alast, i dont care im a subscriber to one of those haha :P
Being able to watch, EPL, Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga and the French League, add to that NBA, NFL, NHL, is awesome from some point of view.

I honestly believe everybody shoud have at least the option to access all the matches from all around the world. But sadly people benefit by restricting access to matches using different methods available. For example, why BBC does not let fans outside of the UK listen to live matches from the EPL? They don't even charge to listen to them. Don't they see that by allowing more people access their broadcasts they will get more fans willing to travel to England or to spend $$$ on merchandising? This same issue applies to all the leagues around Europe, including my beloved La Liga.

There is some big money deals behind those issues you mentioned. Football is getting more commercial everyday wich i hope wont effect the game on the field.
Can anyone from UK tell me how much they pay to view games for one year or any other payment methos that are being used there.

If and its a big if at this point, Realmadrid TV could have their channel broadcast in HD, I think many people would want it, even if they were just a casual soccer fan. High Definition is the killer application and its the biggest thing right now in the U.S. NESN HD (New England Sports Network) is now broacasting in HD fulltime. All of NESN's pregame and postgame shows (both Boston Red Sox baseball and Boston Bruins hockey), including of course the games are broadcast in HD. If Real Madrid are serious about enhancing Realmadrid TV, they should take a serious look at the high definition format. It would be simply amazing if they could pull it off. NESN, YES (Yankees Entertainment and Sports Network) ESPN, and now the NFL Network are all considered the best at broadcasting in HD. Perhaps Real Madrid will want to contact these cable channels to see how its done.

Sorry for the delay. It's just part of their HD package. Of course you'll need an HD box and an extra satelite. If you already have a satelite for international channels, you're ok, because that's the one that gets the HD channels.
I have one box(HD-DVR Dual Tuner) for two TVs. The only thing Dish is missing is Setanta Sports, but I was told they're looking into adding it on.:D

I emailed the CEO last week, he wrote me back immediately (!), said they were looking into it, but it wouldnt be immediate and he couldn't comment further.

With Setanta Sports, Dish will have pretty much every football channel in the US. I hope they get Setanta soon, cause they're hogging up all the Man Utd games and I'd really like to see my boy Ronaldo. I really hope he signs for us one day. His form is improving with every year. At this rate he will eclipse even my fav player Figo. I've always dreamed of Cristiano and Robinho as our wingers. They would straight up terrorize mofos.:D

I've heard Setanata Sports is interested in La Liga and that Gol TV may not pick it up anymore, but this of course is just speculation. Right now VOOM sublicenses La Liga from Gol TV, since Gol TV has an exclusive on the package.

ESPN shows La Liga here. But they show it 2-3 days after the match so it sucks because they're the only ones the broadcast it so I have to resort to torrents
