I don't have high hopes for an outcome on this one. I don't care who is out for the Red Devils. And our history against them, well, we all know what that is.

My wild guess at a lineup:

Carson
Young - Sorondo - HH - Ashton
Rommedahl - Faye - Hughes - Ambrose
FJH - D. Bent

Subs: Myhre, El Karkouri, Kishishev, Sam, M. Bent

Yes, I am really hoping ID sees the error of his ways and puts out true wingers and makes them stay wide. Rommedahl may be a defensive liability. If so, then why not start Sam? Now, if Bolanos becomes available, he starts wide left with Ambrose on the right. I still would like to see a better option attacking in the middle. I might even try Euell there.

Prediction. Addicks 1 - 4 Man U

Ugh Addicks! Oh, I mean, Go Addicks!

Yippee! I will be trying to listen to this one while working away in my cubicle here in Kansas City.

Go Addicks! Let's not get shut out by Sir Alex's big boys.

Anyone else listening in? Or attending? Or watching? Wish I could watch.

Here's a more realistic guess at ID's lineup:

Carson
Young - Sorondo - El K - HH
Ambrose - Faye - Holland - Hughes
JFH - D. Bent
Subs - Myhre, Ashton, Kishishev, Rommedahl, M. Bent

But I don't like using Hughes as a winger. Nor do I like Holland playing at all. He's just not tough enough. And why play two defensive/holding mids when we need to attack the opposition?

?

It's on setanta.. so I'll be able to watch when I get home.. between fsc and setanta I'm guessing that at least half of the addicks games will be on the tele.

Something like 7 epl games a weekend will be televised.

My only wish is for someone to go in 2 footed, cleates exposed on Ronaldo and come as close to injuring him without injuring him as possible while scareing the living daylights out of that diving cheat.

The real lineups:

38 Scott Carson (G) (G) Edwin Van der Sar 1
15 Talal El Karkouri (D) (D) Wes Brown 6
24 Jonathan Fortune (D) (D) Patrice Evra 3
3 Hermann Hreidarsson (D) (D) Rio Ferdinand 5
2 Luke Young (D) (D) John O'Shea 22
11 Darren Ambrose (M) (D) Mikael Silvestre 27
4 Amady Faye (M) (M) Darren Fletcher 24
8 Matthew Holland (M) (M) Ryan Giggs 11
20 Bryan Hughes (M) (M) Cristiano Ronaldo 7
10 Darren Bent (S) (S) Ji-Sung Park 13
18 Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (S) (S) Louis Saha 9

Substitutes
36 Thomas Myhre (G) (G) Tomasz Kuszczak 29
6 Radostin Kishishev (M) (M) Michael Carrick 16
7 Marcus Bent (S) (M) Kieran Richardson 23
12 Kevin Lisbie (S) (S) Giuseppe Rossi 19
19 Dennis Rommedahl (S)

So it's less confusing, here's our lineup:

Carson
Young, Fortune, El Karkouri, Hreidarsson
Ambrose, Faye, Holland, Hughes
D. Bent, JFH

Substitutes -- Myhre, Kishishev, M. Bent, Lisbie, Rommedahl

I just have this feeling we are going to get spanked. With Holland and Hughes in the starting lineup, we have not hope of controlling anything in the midfield. We need some speed -- Rommedahl, even Lisbie.

A lively and lucky first half for the Addicks, 0-0.

Early in the second half, Fortune slips and give the ball to Fletcher. He scores.

Now it is uphill and we have only had a few opportunities. We need a break, a big, big break in this one.

Well, it took a long time, but ID finally changed formation. We seem to be in a 4-3-3.

Carson
Young - Fortune - El K - HH
Holland - Faye - Hughes
D. Bent - M. Bent - Ambrose

With the personnel we have and ID's insistence on more than one holding mid on, this formation coudl suit us well. I could see Bolanos on for Holland and eventually Thomas on for Hughes.

What say you?

JFH had a chance before he went off. Ambrose had one early in the half. And D. Bent has had one really good chance also. But nothing.

Saha puts it away.

Our dirth of wingers and good strikers cannot make up for our lack of central defenders and central midfielders. We need some quality in those spots.

El Karkouri is not an answer. He has moments, but is too inconsistent. Fortune is also a good sub but doesn't always get it done. Sorondo hurt too much. And HH can't do it all by himself.

We need to team an attacker with Faye, who isn't even fit and is taken off after 80 minutes. Rommedahl comes on for him.

Carson is a MAN. The Red Devils could have had 5 or 6 goals easy in this match if not for our loanee.

Myhre might be unhappy with his place, but he would have let in at least 4 goals by the 80th minute or so.

Are we in a relegation battle for the season?

Can we win at home against Bolton on Saturday? Will Bolanos help? Will ID put the best players on the field and get another central defender?

0-3

Well, another good first half. But not enough to get it all done.

I wonder whom we could get to play central defense? Jimmy Conrad of KC Wizards? Bocanegra from Fulham? Suggestions?

I know one thing for sure: We're going to need to get things WON against lesser teams this season. No fooling around...we have to be ruthless and efficient against the teams we're not afraid of.

As for the season's standings... I'm OK with being bottom of the table for right now. It's a long ten months, and all you Addicks fans no doubt remember our ability to flatter to deceive at the beginning of each season. Maybe we're in need of a little shake-up to get our blood boiling? The jury is far from returning on this one... Man U are irresistable right now and I'm not going to put too much stock in this particular result.

I think it was the woodwork more than Carson that kept the score only 3-0, he had one good save late in the first half on a giggs shot.. the goal has more saves than him

commontators said reid was in consideration for a start but was unavailable due to back pain.. looks like his fitness record is following him to se7.

romm made an impact late in the game, they should go with reid-ambrose-romm as discussed before.

bent's chance was a bouncing ball left footed shot from 16 yards.. only really a 1/2 chance on his left foot.

ambrose cought van der sar off his line and barely went over with a chip just after the restart, I don't recall jfh's chance that you mentioned..

regroup for bolton.. let's hope

Forgot the save on ole gunnar's first chance.

So the woodwork + 2 carson saves kept it from being 7 or 8 for mutd.
