I'll be in the DC area in time to make my first visit to RFK. Since I can't watch the Earthquakes beat LA this year, I'll have to settle for watching DC do it. So, what advice can you offer in terms of getting to the stadium, getting good tickets, etc.?

If you're going to cheer for DC, write to tickets@screaming-eagles.com.
If not, go to ticketmaster.com, I guess. Or you can just walk up.
Either way, feel free to join us at the Screaming Eagles tailgate in Lot 8. Non-DC fans are welcome to join us as long as they aren't dicks.

If you're staying in the city, take the Metro to the game: Stadium-Armory stop on the Orange and Blue lines. If you're driving, good luck.:)

If you're not from around here, do yourself a monster favor and DON'T DRIVE. ;)

Word. My advice to anyone visiting from out of town. Can't believe the number of tourists I see driving.
Anyhow, drink a big cup of hate before you come to the game like you used to before Quakes-Gals games back in the day.

As gocaps said, the best experience you'll find is with one of the fan groups--SE, Barra Brava, etc. Show up a few hours early and find your way out to the parking lot to tailgate before the match and get to know some folks, and it'll be that much more fun. You'll get better seats with the SE or BB groups than you will elsewhere, too, not to mention a much better atmosphere if you're into singing/chanting/cheering and generally making yourself heard. :)

I'd advise not wearing or mentioning Earthquakes in Barra tho :)

I'd agree on leaving your Earthquakes gear at home. Regardless of your hate of LA I don't see everyone in both groups enjoying someone donned in SJ gear jumping about etc.
IOTW if you swim in shark infested waters, don't rub yourself with chum prior to taking a swim.
