Saw that on Sky Sports News as well. It's not going to settle anything for this transfer window, and possibly not even the January window. Takeovers take time to progress, negotiations, offers, approval, so on and so forth. If it materialises, I can't see it happening until January at the earliest.

Here's a more detailed description. They're just in talks at this point.

Thanks for that article, puts me mind at ease at least. I'm all up for getting FF outta there. Hopefully he sells this time.

From reading the article...I would like this takeover, however...I don't know if I want them in yet...for all we know they could be very tight with the money purse.

On the other hand they could allow us to spend alot of money.

Yah. FF has said he'd resist any buyout of his share in the club. It'd be ugly wresting it from his control but it's not been all that pretty having him in control either.

I'd prefer to have some rich guy that has nothing else better to do with his money take over than any company that has a bottom line to be concerned about.

From NUFC:

"Football club ownership these days, moreover, tends to be the preserve of individuals with very deep pockets. One person to fit the bill is Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed al-Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai."

That's the guy I want writing the checks in the transfer market!

Ask Fulham how that's worked out. It's as hit and miss as any ownership.

I mean real money.......

If Fulhams owner was halfway serious about making a contender they'd do something about that stadium....first and foremost.

He did bring Fulham up three divisions.

Well now hindsight being 20/20 I think we know what it means for the transfer window.

Color me paranoid but what if the takeover threat freaked FS out and instead of funnelling money to Roeder to buy players he funneled it into increasing his ownership to a little more than 30% to prevent a buyout of Hall's percentage by Belgravia.

If Hall would have sold to Belgravia, (I think it was somewhere in the 25-28% range) and Belgravia would have bought more shares, it would have triggered an automatic takeover on the Stock exchange. FS would have been forced to either accept the offer, or secure his interests by buying more at a higher price to offset Belgarvia's ownership.

But then again if you read this: (http://www.nufc-finances.org.uk/2006half.htm) We really don't have any money....and I'm just being paranoid.

Newcastle reject takeover bid from Belgravia Group (http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=382838&cc=5901)

Newcastle's major shareholders have rejected a bid from Belgravia Group, according to the Sunday Telegraph.

News of the Jersey-based investment group's interest surfaced last month and while their approach has been rebuffed, another offer is expected.

Sir John Hall, who owns 28.8% of the club and his son Douglas, who owns 12% along with chairman Freddy Shepherd (28%) have reportedly rejected an initial approach though talks are said to be ongoing.

The newspaper quotes an executive close to the negotiations as saying: ``Talks are ongoing and there seems to be every chance of a deal being struck.''

The club is valued at £91million and Shepherd will reportedly only accept an offer of more than £100million.
