There was a topic for top 10 right backs, so I make one for top ten left backs.
Random order:
Zambrotta
Cole
Lahm
Grosso
Chivu
Pernia
Antonio Lopez
Sorin
Aurelio
Heinze

Heinze is a right back, Chivu is a left CB used on the left because he's capable, is Grosso not a right back?
Anyways, there aren't even 10 left backs in the world, let alone try naming a top 10.

Heinze is a left-back, who can also play in the centre.
Chivu is the same but now mainly plays in the centre.
Grosso is clearly a left-back.
Do you even watch football?

My 2 favorites are Grosso and Lahm because of how skillfully they attack.

Nope, I just make up statements for kicks, like Heskey > Pele.

Grosso has a 5 leafed plant and it ain't from Scotland.
Drew Barrymore is a fiesty one, she's a perfect CM, dives right into tackles.
Heinze hates ketchup.

I was going to say the same thing earlier, but opted not to. RC and Maldini are going strictly on pedigree.

Maldini was one of the true greats of all time. But his prime has certainly passed. As for Roberto Carlos, he never defended well enough for my tastes. Any back for me is a defender who attacks as an option. Not sure he ever understood that.

Lahm impressed me in the WC, but it was mostly on the attacking end. As for LBs, it's hard, but Zambrotta and Grosso are certainly up there.

Haha so true. Leading up the World Cup, Tommy Smyth was breaking down each team. When Brazil came up, he mentioned their outside backs, Cafu and Roberto Carlos. He roughly said "if you gave them zip codes at their positions, you would never find them there. They are always up joining the attack and that could hurt them defensively if a team can break Brazil down."
