Question about Kalou?

Did he actually get a work permit or what? Does he hold an EU passport (other than Dutch obviously heh ;))

What's the deal? I thought you needed quite a few caps to be eligible for a work permit. Or is there some EU line in his family?


Just wondering, cause I read nothing about any of it, and seing how he didn't play for Ivory Coast, and was rejected by the Dutch, I don't see how he was signed.

He did get a work permit - we're not entirely sure how. Likely under the exceptional talent rule.

I'd guess whoever decided these things determined that he would have played enough for Cote d'Ivoire if it hadn't been for his Dutch citizenship row.
