I'm sure there are tons of Aggies and Teasips on this board, here's the place to start your smack talk, not to mention Coogs, Red Raiders, etc....

I dropped out of Rice, then got my BA from UCLA. The SWC still existed when I was at Rice, so when it comes to UT-A&M, I generally say "a pox on both their houses." Was an honorary UT fan during the Rose Bowl this year, of course. :)

Apparently, even with SC's losses from last year's team, they will still be loaded, my Bruins may not be in position to end their streak against us.

I would bust out with a "not going to happen" but I do not want to curse my boys from Troy. I would say that this is a good season to catch USC (major losses on offense and a defense that still has a lot of question marks) but, based on what UCLA lost (and their coach ... but that is another story), I think being bowl eligible should be considered a decent season.

Really looking forward to the USC-Nebraska game on the 16th but I already have a commitment (that I am also looking forward) that will keep me from watching. Hopefully it is the local ABC game so I can tape it and watch it later. All I can say is that is that is a good thing Chivas is coming to town on Sunday or Dynamo would be playing third fiddle that Saturday.

I am a die hard Red Raider man. I graduated from there in '98. I remember many great games versus A & M and the Teasips. My Father played for OU in the late 60's so I grew up to loathe UT, Nebraska and Miami.

Here's to seeing another Tech QB pass for 15,000 yards in one season ;)

SC will be a mid table Pac 10 squad this season. OU got screwed by some Car Dealership that let Bomar get paid for nothin'!

This season should be wide open for many schools.

sorry, I didn't express myself well, I was indeed saying that UCLA probably won't be able to beat USC this year either. I understand SC has been stocking up killer recruits the past couple yrs to fill in after Leinart and Bush left.

hey, Lord Ghoti, isn't it weird to be in Texas and try to find other people who give a damn about the Pac-10?

I got a buddy who I watch the SC games with when we are stuck with some weak Big 12 game on the local ABC broadcast. Usually we hit up Buffalo Wild Wings in the Village or Two Rows. (Though we have been to one or two other places that I cannot think of right now.)

SC will be a mid table Pac 10 squad this season.
If you want to back up your big words with some money I am willing to bet you that USC will not finish below 3rd in the Pac 10 this year.

I don't see much of a change for A&M this year. Their offense should be potent and deep and I think McGee will bring something that McNeal didn't...leadership. I loved McNeal but McGee nearly pulled off the upset against UT on shear will and determination depsite not having much prep time for the game and a relative lack of knowledge of the system.

Our Achilles' heel will again be defense. A new D-coordinator comes in who didn't exactly impress at his most recent stop along with a new base formation (4-2-5)to combat the spread offenses that have popped up all over college football and especially the Big 12. Sadly, it emphasizes the secondary which probably has less talent (or at least unproven) then some Division II schools. Our weak non-Conference schedule might give us a respectable record at the end of the year (6-7 wins) but I don't see us beating either TT, OU, or UT.

In any case, I'll be there to watch it all. Can't wait for the festivities to start.

I was expecting a lot more action in this thread.

Oh baby am I excited about today. The return of College Gameday, an entire weekend filled with college football games, USC back on the field ... it does not get much better than this.

I am so glad that Houston's game is on Sunday. This Saturday when UT plays OSU is huge and I'm really looking forward to watching that. I didn't go to any of the major TX colleges so I just like watching good football.

I tried to pretend that this week didn't have college football since I knew that I would miss all of the games Saturday. I'll be using my season tickets to catch A&M this week.

FSU just beat Miami by 3...again.

Watch out for TCU, we're crashin the BCS this year! Not to mention that we're dismanteling the Big 12 one by one.

Oklahoma - check
Iowa State - check
Baylor - check
TxTech - we wont lose at home!
2007 - we takin on the big boys in Austin!

These games have really become dreadful these last three years. A lot of Florida football apologists (I am using the term broadly to cover all three of the schools) want to blame all the sloppiness on being the first game of the year. While it undoubtedly contributes to the problem, I still have my reservations about this, though I am looking forward to them moving it back to October like the "good ol' days." Hopefully it will live up to its billing at least.

But, even without USC playing, I am looking forward to this weekend.

And I am still waiting for CeltTexan to put his money where his mouth is.

Texas vs Ohio St....I'm an Aggie and I'm still looking forward to that game. Should be a good one. Although, I'll have to rely on tivo as I'll be in Kyle watching A&M play the powerhouse that is U LA-LA. Sadly, they will still probably put up at least 300 yards of total offense against our D. :(

Go Trinity Tigers! How about a shout for a DIII school! Came out with a big win in week one, but suffered a tough loss to Texas Lutheran today. Trinity played in the DIII national title game in 2002, and is usually in the playoffs.

Not that is anywhere as cool as UT-OSU, but hey, we can't all go to big schools!

Good game tonight by UT. Turnovers kill ya every time. Boomersooner will be happy to know that there was an OU girl at the bar tonight cheering against UT. Curse me for not getting her number!

Being an A&M fan is the eternal tease. Just when you think they are turning the corner (play against ULA-LA, an admittedly poor team but still) they play like they did tonight and ruin any momentum you might have thought they had.

Oh well, at least I don't hate my friend as much for getting married on the day of the Tech game. Looks like she may have saved me from watching a walloping.

I don't know if anyone watched OU-Oregon on Ch. 13 this afternoon, but OU was so robbed on that onside kick at the end of the game. Why do you bother with replay when the ballless zebras are still never going to make a tough call at the end of the game against a home team? After all, boo hoo, they might have been booed had they made the correct call!

Had that game been played in Norman, the penalty for illegal touching inside of 10 yards would have been called. It's always good for perspective's sake to remember the refs suck in places other than MLS too...

Yeah OU got totally screwed. I managed to catch the end of it after I got tired of watching the UT shellacking on Rice.

Yeah OU got totally screwed. I managed to catch the end of it after I got tired of watching the UT shellacking on Rice.Hey, at least Rice beat Texas in soccer. :D

That first half was probably the worst Rice performance I've seen since the 0-11 season in 1988. The second half obviously featured a lot of subs, but it was a pretty terrible mismatch when both teams were playing their starters. That game also had a ridiculously high number of penalties on both teams. Not that I'm complaining - UT's penalties gave us most of our best gains. :o

I also saw part of that Army v A&M game. I was hoping for a road win at Army, but they certainly gave the Aggies a tough enough time, so who knows. Anyway, it's Tod Graham's first year and he's installing a new offense and new defense. He's already raised about $6 million for the program and recruited the best freshmen that we've had since the mid 90s. And, perhaps best of all, this is the last year of bodybag/payday scheduling.

"But why, some say, the moon? Why choose this as our goal? And they may well ask why climb the highest mountain. Why, 35 years ago, fly the Atlantic? Why does Rice play Texas?"

The refs had nothing to do with it ... Oklahoma's loss can be traced back in its entirety to my friend (as USC alum from Oklahoma who cheers for both teams, though USC first). With six minutes or so to go in the Rose Bowl last year (shortly after USC had gone up by 12) my frined made the "It's over" call.

And clearly he did not learn his lesson. Shortly after OU added their second field goal he blurted out with a "That's it, I'm calling it." And the rest, as they say, is history.l
