Who ya got?

I became a Raider fan after blowing off the Oilers after Buffalo '93. Actually, even while growing up here in the 60's, was a fan of Daryl Lamonica, Cliff Branch, Ben Davidson et al., going on into the Stabler/Madden teams. So don't get me started on the effing "tuck rule"!

Hasn't been easy watching Al's senility drag the team down, so have to satisfy myself these days w/rooting against New England, and being richly amused at how lousy the 49ers are too. I lived in the Bay Area from 86-89, the kind of wall-to-wall coverage the Chron gives to the Texans now you already saw then in the SF Chronicle. I used to joke that they even had a sidebar on Mon. mornings about what shoelaces those punks Montana and Rice wore.

I know we're from all over on this board, so should be an interesting variety of teams supported, not to mention the Texans (yawn). When I saw their new ad tagline this season, "I'm a Texan," wondered aloud, "I laugh at the Texans - does that count?"

David Barron, the Chron's sports media columnist, points out in his blog that the Texans don't quite rule Houston TV in the same way as most NFL teams:

NFL games were the top-rated program last week in 18 markets. Houston, however, wasn't one of them. Grey's Anatomy's season premiere on Channel 13 Led at 16.5 to 15.4 for the Texans-Redskins game on Channel 13.
