Monolith Media Center (https://monolithmc.com/index.php)
MonolithMC eliminates the guesswork involved with building the perfect DVR. The most raved Linux OS - Ubuntu - coupled with the popular MythTV Media Center Suite create an ideal match. Putting this software to work on hand picked hardware, assembled by professional system builders delivers an extremely stable and featureful Media Center customized to your exact needs.

This sounds pretty nice. I've been debating how to pull off a MythTV media center inspite of my complete lack of understanding when it comes to building/working with computer hardware. The biggest negative that I can see is that it is running a Pentium 4, which would result in a decent amount of noise).
This seems pretty tempting, the other option I'm considering is finding someone who knows their stuff and giving them the specs and parts and having them assemble it for me.
