Portsmouth look to be down on strikers with Lua Lua and Benjani nursing injuries, so they may be coming out 4-5-1.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how the new strike partnership comes off. We can win this game, though trips to the south coast have been tricky in the past.

as it stands now, Reid and Nelsen will be out with ankle and hamstring problems respectively, while Emerton is a doubt with a calf strain. Tugay is out due to a ban he picked up at the end of last season.

What do people think our starting lineup will look like?

With no Reid and no Nelsen I presume it will look along the lines of below:

Friedel
Niel - Zurab - Todd - Gray
Bentley? - Savage - Peter? - Gamst
McCarthy - Roberts

I must admit that I am a bit at a loss at how the boss will form our midfield this year.

anyways, I have 50 on us winning by two! Let's GOOOOOOOO

I think we'll see Gallagher-Bentley-Savage-Gamst in the midfield. Gallagher has been getting some time on the right this preseason, which may pay off now.

Wow Gallagher on the right? I wasn't aware that he was being used as a right sided midfielder during presean. After his 12 goal haul at Stoke last season I guess that just didn't occur to me when I saw his name on the team sheet for the preseason matches.

How does he play there, does anyone know?

I am looking forward to this season so much that I cannot wait!

I'm not sure what to expect out of him since I've never seen him play there, to be honest.

It's weird seeing Thompson on someone elses bench, and not ours, or our injured list.

Crap. Sounds like Neill was responsible for giving one up. Todorov puts Prostmouth up 1-0.

Portsmouth has had way too much of the play so far. We need halftime.

f**K me its the first game of the season and theres 37 games to go.i went down to west ham on the opening day last season and felt terrible on the coach trip back to lancashire but we bounced back and finnished 6 place so i will be happy to lose if history repeats its self
