I've actually started to enjoy soccer due to the World Cup this year.
I understand that the premier League is the best league in the world.
I was wondering which teams the big namers from teh world Cup play for.
Examples:
Rooney, Ronaldinho, Both Ronaldo's, Henry, Zidane.
Also, are any members of the USA NAtional team in the Premier League.
Thanks guys. Great site!

Rooney = Manchester United, England
Ronaldinho = Barcelona, Spain
Christiano Ronaldo (The smug portugese one)= Manchester United
Ronaldo (The goofy one) = Real Madrid, Spain
Thierry Henry = Arsenal, England
Zidane = was Real Madrid, but now retired.
For American players, Fulham and Reading spring to mind, but there are a few more somewhere.

A couple of Americans play keeper in the Premiership, I think.
Friedel plays for Blackburn. Can't remember who else at the moment.
Jay Demerit is a defender for Watford. Kind of a neat story. He was playing a friendly against Watford with a lower division team and they liked what they saw. McBride and Bocanegra play for Fulham. Spector plays for West Ham.

Robin Van Persie = Arsenal
Ruud van Nistelrooy = Inter Milan
Arjen Robben = Chelsea
Dirk Kuyt = Liverpool
Khlid Boularouz = Chelsea
KLAAS JAN HUNTELAAR = AJAX AMSTERDAM
Oh no. Those white letters are going to be invisible, right?

Good for you for taking the interest and initiative to ask. A lot of people have told you where the most prominent US players play. For the best players in the world, you would need to have a list of the biggest clubs. I won't name every player at these clubs, but these are where the majority of the biggest stars play (open to debate whether you want to cut the list at 6 or 10 or 20 clubs):
England: Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United
Spain: Chelsea and Real Madrid
Germany: Bayern Munich (Klose plays for Bremen)
Italy: AC Milan, Inter Milan, Roma, Juve (but they were relegated to second division for irregularities this season)
Next tier of leagues:
Holland: PSV, Ajax
Portugal: Porto
France: Olympic (Lyon), Monaco
Best of the best at the moment: Barcelona and Chelsea.
As for EPL being the best league, there is no one in the world with half of a brain that would put them outside of the top 3, although Spain and Italy have decent arguments as well. My own personal bias: for top flight, world class performance, watch the 4 I mentioned from England, the 2 from Spain and pick a team from the EPL outside of the top 4. You can find your own satisfaction in cheering for a smaller club simply to stay up or if you're lucky, they'll earn a UEFA Cup spot. Suffering builds character. Take it from a Leicester fan.

England: Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United
Spain: Chelsea and Real MadridI would add Spurs and Newscastle to the England list.
And take Chelsea out of the Spain list!!
And NewbieJr if you enjoyed the world cup (which was poor in my opinion) then you will love the EPL! (support Spurs! :))

Let me guess... an Englishman told you this? :D This is debatable but in general people talk of the "Big three" leagues being the Italian Serie A, Spanish La Liga, and the English Premiership (EPL). There's not really a whole lot to pick from between these leagues. Many of the most entertaining players in the world come from South America - mainly Brazil and Argentina. Many of these players play, due to linguistic and other cultural reasons, in Italy or Spain. But the EPL still has its fair share of world class players. The EPL is often considered the fastest paced league, the Spanish maybe the most artsy, and the Italian the most disciplined. Mind you, the reputation of the Italian Serie A has been seriously hindered by a huge match fixing scandal last year which ended in the relegation of it's top club, Juventus, and a huge points dedection for it's other big club - AC Milan.
The big four teams in the EPL are Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Liverpool. Chelsea setting the standards for the last two seasons with the other three also having enjoyed success over the last couple of decades.
In Spain the top two are Barcelona and Real Madrid. Valencia and Depotivo La Carouna are other teams to watch out for. In Italy; well, the aforementioned Juventus and AC Milan have been the teams to beat over the years but with their shocking downfall - watch out for Internationazale (aka Inter Milan), Roma, and Lazio.
Not far behing the big three are the German Bundesliga (Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, etc.), Dutch Eredevirse (sp?) (Ajax Amsterdam, PSV Eindhoven), and French League (Lyon, Marseille, etc.).
Personally I enjoy watching the Spanish and English league myself.
Anyhoo.. enjoy watching footy.

Let me guess... a S.American told you this? :) The large majority of the most entertaining players are from Europe.
And the big six clubs in england are: Man Utd, Spurs, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Liverpool and Everton.

This perosn is right becuase Chelsea have only endured success of late during the last three seasons. Befroe that they were average at best. The have no HISTORY compared to the six 'big' clubs of English Football which are Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal , Everton and Aston Villa. Now i'm not actually sure wheather Newcastle are considered a bigger team than Spurs. But none the less the are also considered historical clubs in terms of English football.

If you want to see "Big clubs" like Spurs, Aston Villa, and Everton play... then check out the champions league.. apparently they're regulars in the tournament and considered favorites to win. :D

Newcastle havent won anything for over 50 years.
Need i say more...
(Newcastle actually used to be a feeder club for Spurs)

As this thread is entitled "Where do the stars play" then I guess there is no need to menion Newcastle.
If it were "Where is the Star's Graveyard" then that would be a different matter":D
