This piece is sort of amazing, in that it gives two paragraphs to how “The MLS All-Stars, sporting a lineup including nine of DC United’s first eleven in its ranks, fashioned a very creditable 1-1 draw against Chelsea…”

The bigsoccer newsbot has the link also but more people look in this thread. "Slam" is only a nice way of putting it.

I love Bruce Arena.
I agree it was time for him to leave US soccer - but I still respect the heck out of the guy, if only for his honesty. No doubt the dolts at US soccer need some brutal honesty from time to time.

Awesome. LA Story.
Beat me to it. "I'll have a half double-decaffeinated half-caf with a twist of lemon."
But my fave exchange:
Trudi: "Sheila is taking a course in the art of conversation."
Harris: "Oh, really Sheila?"
Sheila (pausing): "Yes."
(Awkward silence ensues.)

Donovan regroups after "dismal" World Cup
http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/sports/15281028.htm
This story was done by the Colorado Springs Gazette and picked up by the San Jose Mercury News. Among the gems included in it are:
- 'Cakes was troubled by his lousy performance
- Mastro obviously thinks 'Cakes should have played better
- Bianca -- no kidding -- is referred to as a movie star
