Sorry if this is redundant:
"When I started, it was to have fun with a couple of friends," said 14-year-old captain and running back/receiver Ben Allen, who scored the winning touchdown in the dying seconds of the national championship final in Windsor. "We just got this far and now it's pretty exciting (to be going to Germany). It's a once-in-a-lifetime experience."
...
Zarychta -- who played basketball with the provincial midget team, which finished eighth at the national championships earlier this month in Sherbrooke, Que. -- isn't the only athlete on the team with a background in another sport. Allen was a member of the provincial boys under-14 soccer team and has a tryout with a team in Belgium lined up for later this month.
