To go back to the original subject...how many of you had detailed disussions about evolution vs. creation, thermodynamics, school vouchers and humanity in general with your co-workers. Probably not too many and that's part of the problem. Workplace conversations usually don't go beyond weather and sports (gridiron, basketball, baseball).

I meant to post this under "mind numbing masses"...oh well. It deserves its own thread. In my last job I unofficially held the title of resident geek (for soccer and intellectual "stuff").

I don't talk any religion or politics at work, but I talk plenty of soccer. I've been getting lots of converts too. I haven't gone to a Rapids game this year without bringing some friends along and I've attended every home game. I should probably refrain from talking religion and politics in this forum, too. I don't seem to be making many friends.

If they went any deeper some people would find ways to sabotage the careers of anyone who didn't buy into their dogma. You must live in an enlightened region. Do you think the average John Doe is ready for conversations that may contradict what they've been told all their lives?
