I wanted to start something on the amateur side since some of the players might eventually play a role in this season for the Bundesliga team too.

Right now, the news isn't that good. Our boys lost at home this past weekend to HSV's amateur team, 2-1. The week before, our boys lost at St. Pauli by the same score.

We opened the season with a goalless draw against VfB Luebeck.

Our boys are in 13th place, one place above the relegation zone only because we've scored one goal more than Kickers Emden.

Actually, I don't worry about it too much because we've got kids playing amongst teams trying to get to the 2. Bundesliga.

That being said, the amateur teams of Bremen, Hertha and HSV are all ahead of our boys and the amateur teams of Leverkusen and Gladbach are below us at the moment......

"Kicker" says in the HSV match we were too "harmless" on offense and were disorganized in defense. The offensive part sounds just like the Bundesliga team last season, doesn't it??

Also, "kicker" said there were too many holes between the midfield and defense and Hamburg used them to create dangerous chances the whole match. Before HSV scored their first goal, one of their players hit the post and later, the guy who scored the second goal also hit the post.

Our goal was scored by Sahr Senesie in the 82nd minute, but by "kicker's" account the match was "over" by then.

Our lineup was: Meier, M. Heitmeier, Hünemeier, Neumeister, Vrzogic, Saka, Solga, Gordon, Kohlmann, Tyrala, Sensie

Substitutions were: 46th minute, Amachaibou for Saka and A. Heitmeier for Solga

"kicker" says our best players were Tyrala and Amachaibou.

Does anyone know if Pirson is injured? I'm wondering why Meier played.

hmm It won't matter where we finish ... next season or the season after that , only the first 9 teams of each regionalliga survive the others get "relegated" including ALL Amateur teams. DFL is planning a new third bundesliga and the allready got the Ok

3 BL :
- No 2nd Teams of first league teams
- only the best 9 from BOTH Regionalligen
- no North/South anymore, but one League from north <-> south
- higher % of the the TV money than the old regionalliga teams got before

thats whats clear by now

That's not a "relegation". That's just whether they stay "Regionalliga" or not, so it does matter where we finish.

I'd rather our team stay in the Regionalliga than be relegated to the Oberliga.

THAT was the question!

That 3rd Bundesliga idea has been on the shelf for a long time. I wondered when they would finally do it.

Guys, not good news again from our amateur team last week. I'm surprised "HeyaBVB" didn't report on this because his big "hometown club", Holstein Kiel, ripped the BVB reserves 5-1 last weekend in Kiel.

Once again, Sahr Senesie, who just can't seem to stick with the BL team, scored our guys' only goal.

Our boys are in the relegation zone, next to last place with one point from four matches. Only SV Wihelmshaven, with zero points from three matches stands between our boys and last place. :(

Their next match is this Sunday at home against the Gladbach reserves. "Home" for the reserve team is Stadion Rote Erde, BVB's old home pitch, directly next to the Westfalenstadion.

I didn't mean to imply anything different. Just like all those years I went to see BVB in the Frankenstadion. I was a Borusse. Always and forever no matter where I am.

Our boys beat Gladbach amateurs this weekend 2-1 at Stadion Rote Erde. Our goals were scored by Vrzogic in the 44th minute and Solga in the 85th minute. Schuchardt scored the opening goal for Gladbach in the in the 4th minute.

Gladbach keeper Melka stopped a penalty shot by Saka in the 69th minute.

Our boys are now in 16th place in the 19 team league. Places 15 through 19 are relegation places. We are in the relegation zone by goal difference as places 13 through 16 all have four points.

We are at -5. The team in the first safety position, Kickers Emden, are at
-2. Fortuna Duesseldorf, between us and Emden, are at -3.

Cool. I hope he's truly as talented as the club says he is......

The amateurs went to Ahlen last weekend and won 2-0. Both goals were scored by seemingly "long time talent" Sahr Senesie in the 45th and 75th minutes. Senesie, who again has been regarded as a "talent to look out for" by BVB for quite awhile now, may just shape up to be a nice Odonkor replacement.

Lars Ricken played in central midfield for the amateurs and apparently played quite well, giving the amateur team the creativity it lacked in central midfield since the selling of Nizamettin Caliksan.

Here's our lineup for the match:

BVB 2: Meier (22. Pirson) Hillenbrand, Marc Heitmeier, Hünemeier, Parensen - Akgün, Eggert, Ricken, Vrzogic (82. Gordon) - Senesie, Tyrala (57. Saka).

Goals: 0:1 Senesie (45.); 0:2 Senesie (75.).

Backup keeper Bernd Meier destroyed his knee in this match and will undergo surgery. He will be out 6 to 8 months. With the transfer window now closed, BVB is not able to sign a keeper from another club. So, I'm guessing that Soren Pirson is now our new #2 at least until the winter break when I'm sure BVB will look to sign another keeper at least on loan for the rest of the season.

I'm privately hoping that we'll get Dennis Gentenaar back on loan from Ajax, but it would not make sense for him to go from a CL club in Ajax, where he's a backup, to us, where he would just be backing up again for probably less money. I just remember what Gentenaar did for us last season and he'll be a player I will always welcome back to BVB.

I think we'll wind up asking Gladbach for their third keeper, Michael Melka, as was rumored during this past off-season.

I hope to post where our guys are in the standings later today. I have not picked up a "kicker" or "SportBild" this week as of yet. I've been very busy, but wanted to get the word out that our amateur guys finally won with help from Lars Ricken.

However, am I the only one wondering why it was Ricken down there helping the amateurs and not Nuri Sahin? Was Sahin called up for Turkey??

Thanks!

Our guys won their last match played last night at the Stadion Rote Erde. They beat a team picked by many to battle for promotion to the 2. Liga, VfL Osnabrueck.

We won 1-0 on a goal by Kosi Saka in the 61st minute. According to "kicker" there were 1,662 spectators at the match, among them BVB Trainer Bert van Marwijk.

"kicker" also stated that Kosi Saka and Sahr Senesie are working well together as a pair. Their choice for BVB's outstanding players were goalkeeper Pirson and midfielder Kohlmann.

The amateur team now has 10 points from 7 games, with a -2 goal difference. This is good for a ninth place tie with 1. FC Magdeburg, who has an identical record and goal differential.

Our boys are three points clear of the first team in the relegation zone. However, that team, SV Wilhelmshaven, has a match in hand on us. A good thing for us is that there are five other teams between them and us in the standings and we have a match in hand on one of those teams, Holstein Kiel, who kicked the crap out of our boys earlier in the season.

BVB's lineup - subs in parentheses:

Pirson, Hillenbrand (77. Rammel), Hunemeier (62. Solga), M. Heitmeier, Kohlmann, Akguen, Eggert, Sahin, Parensen, Saka (90. Gordon), Senesie

Next match for the amateur team is on Saturday afternoon at Fortuna Duesseldorf. I don't think Pirson will play for them in that match as he should be with the professional team at Westfalenstadion for the match against HSV.

BTW, Sahr Senesie is currently tied for Regionalliga South scoring lead with 4 goals so far this season.

Hey Keith, have you been to any of the Amateur matches this year? Do you plan on going to any if not?

I'm just wondering if the lads like Sahr and Kosi look polished enough to make the jump to the Bundesliga even if just for a sub appearance in junk time. I'd hate to think of Senesie being a career lower leaguer after so much time and effort was spent on him, or for him to be sold off for peanuts...

And with Ricken playing in the reserves there is no doubt they'll stay up!

No, I haven't been to any yet this season, but I'm looking for a weekend when both teams are at home. It's already happened once, but I couldn't go.

Well, both Senesie and Saka both already have Bundesliga time with the club, so I'm sure BvM is considering what both of them can do for the team. However, one name that doesn't come up is Abdenour Amachaibou. He does well for the pro team during friendlies. I think Senesie and Saka both may be behind him in the pecking order to move up to the pro team. However, if they continue to play well, BvM may well have to consider them.

Then again, there's also Sebastian Tyrala, but he's listed as a "midfielder" on both rosters.

I really think if things don't change with the pro team, we may be selling Smolarek during the winter break. He wants to go somewhere where he can start and unless Frei or Valdez gets hurt, I don't think Smolarek will see the pitch each match until Valdez burns himself out running like a crazy man.

The following players are listed on both the pro and amateur rosters in the pre-season "kicker":

Defense:

Nico Hillenbrand
Uwe Huenemeier
David Vrzogic (Out six months with a torn ACL)

Midfield:

Sebastian Tyrala

Striker:
Abdenour Amachaibou
Kosi Saka

And with Ricken playing in the reserves there is no doubt they'll stay up!

Ricken won't be staying down there. He wasn't with them for this last match. They can't risk having him declared ineligible for the pro roster. I don't know the exact rule, but they can't just put professionals on the amateur team whenever they want to.

This past weekend, our weakened amateur side lost 4-0 at Fortuna Düsseldorf.

I say "our weakened amateur side" because four starters, Patrick Kohlmann, goalkeeper, Sören Pirson, Kosi Saka and Uwe Hünemeier were not in Düsseldorf with the team, rather they were at the Westfalenstadion on the professional team's bench.

Hünemeier actually saw a few minutes of action at the end of our 1-0 victory over HSV.

Our guys were only down 2-0 until giving up two more goals in the last three minutes of the match. According to Kicker, our best player was defender Marc Heitmeier.

Here is the lineup as shown by Kicker:

Samulewicz (GK), Hillenbrand, Grosskreutz, M. Heitmeier, Parensen, Akguen, (75. Firat), Eggert (65. Oeztekin), Gordon, Solga, Senesie, Amachaibou (46. Zeynullahu)

The big loss drops our guys back down to 14th place just one spot below the first relegation spot. At 10 points, we are one point ahead of Holstein Kiel, who are in the first relegation spot. However, the team just behind them, SV Wihelmshaven, have seven points and a match in hand on us. We currently have a -6 goal difference while they have a -3.

Next match for the amateurs is this coming Sunday against Rot-Weiss Erfurt at Stadion Rote Erde. Kickoff is at 2PM CET.

This past weekend, the amateurs, despite starting what looks like a very strong lineup on Sunday, lost 1-0 to Rot-Weiss Erfurt at Stadion Rote Erde.

According to 'kicker' Erfurt scored early on a header by Kumbela (4th minute) and then cleverly defended the rest of the match.

It says we only created two good goal chances, both wasted. The first by Tyrala in the 59th minute and the second by Amedick in the 78th minute.

Nuri Sahin saw a second yellow card in the 85th minute and is suspended for next Saturday's match at Dynamo Dresden.

The loss leaves us in the first relegation spot with 10 points from 9 matches. However, the two teams behind us, Erfurt and SV Wihelmshaven, have 8 and 7 points respectively and they both have a match in hand on us.

The team just above us, 1. FC Magdeburg, also has 10 points, but a better goal difference (-3 to our -7), AND a match in hand.

Our lineup was:

Pirson (GK), M. Heitmeier (37. Hillenbrand), Amedick, Hünemeier, Kohlmann, Tyrala, (60. Amachaibou), Eggert (70. Akgün), Ricken, Sahin, Saka, Senesie

Kicker chose Tyrala and Ricken as outstanding players, however neither made the Regionalliga Nord Team of the Day. Neither did any of the Erfurt players.

Almost forgot this week.

Why?

Our boys lost again. This time 2-1 away to one of last season's 2. Liga relegated teams, Dynamo Dresden.

I'm assuming our boys wore black uniforms because Dynamo Dresden is the one team in the German football leagues whose uniforms used to mirror ours. As far as I've seen, their current uniforms still look like some of our old ones.

Anyhow, David and Vorbeck were the goal scorers for Dresden, while 21 year old midfielder Daniel Gordon pulled one back in the final minute for BVB.

The loss leaves our boys with ten points from ten matches.

That's "good" for 16th place (2nd of five relegation spots), 2 points from safety. However, the team in the last "safety" spot, Rot-Weiss Erfurt, not only are a point ahead of us, but have one match in hand.

The two teams immediately behind us, Bayer Leverkusen amateurs and SV Wihelmshaven both have 8 points and a match in hand.

Our lineup was as follows with kicker's outstanding players in bold.

Pirson, Hillenbrand (78. Gordon), Hünemeier, Parensen, Kohlmann, Akgün, Eggert (46. Njambe), Solga (85. Öztekin), M. Heitmeier, Saka, Senesie

Next match for the amateurs is on Saturday, October 14th against 1. FC Magdeburg. The match is set to kickoff at 2PM CET at the Stadion Rote Erde in Dortmund.

They lost again. This time 2-1 at Wuppertaler SV. All the goals were scored in the first 20 minutes of the match.

They scored in the 13th and 19th minutes, Senesie scored our only goal in the 20th minute.

According to "kicker", Nuri Sahin and Kosi Saka played well for us. Perhaps Sahin senses what shit Pienaar has been so far and thinks he can fight his way back to the senior team.

Saka was named to kicker's "Team of the Week."

The amateurs are next to last in Regionalliga North. Gladbach amateurs are dead last.

The thing is, they use their amateurs to backfill the professional team as much as we do.

The good news is, our guys can't lose next week because they have a "bye week" or "off-week".

The potentially better news is that the two teams directly above us, Wihelmshaven at 11 points and Leverkusen Amateurs at 12 points, should both lose next weekend as Wihelmshaven hosts one of three teams tied at the top of the table with 21 points, Fortuna Duesseldorf, and Leverkusen hosts the team right below that group at 21, VfL Osnabrueck, who are in fourth place and have 20 points.

Hello footy.
