Today is the final day of the season.
And our guys saved their asses with a 2-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen Amateurs at the Westfalenstadion. Goals were scored by Njambe and Ricken.
We were in a race with Kiel for the last safe spot with the teams tied on points, but our guys with better goal difference by five goals.
A bit more than a month ago, the club started feeding a couple of the pros back to the amateur side to help try to retain Regionalliga status. The most notable players are Lars Ricken and Nuri Sahin.
But we also wound up taking young midfielder Daniel Gordon from the amateurs too.
And today, they did it. Our amateurs will be in the Regionalliga North (Nord) again next season.
FC St. Pauli and VfL Osnabrueck are promoted to the 2. Liga.
