The Copa America would be a better preparation for the U.S., and Gulati is attempting to work out the logistics of entering the tournament, scheduled to start June 26, two days after the Gold Cup final, in Venezuela.
Hey, that's great to hear.

Trust me, if we don't go to the Copa it will have nothing to do with Sunil.
He desperately wants the team there. A lot of conflicts of interest here, timing, etc.
Maybe too many this time around unfortunately, but he is trying like hell form what I understand.

:D"you would be surprised, better known coaches have said yes, we should talk about this"
.....because better coaches see decent talent, see the obvious reason we failed last time (Donut Boy) and know that a coach with good ability, with actual deep understanding of the game itself, could mold a very nice squad.
No, I wouldn't be surprised because good coaches and people who know the game, can see what's missing most. For all of the talk of player shortcomings the biggest one (in more ways than one:D ) was sitting like a deer in headlights on our bench.

That was a long-winded way of saying, "Nothing to see here."

Gulati is right though , we are not in any rush to find a coach , and thats probably why we have no friendlies scheduled , were too busy looking around for coaches . I think as soon as Klinsi is done with his contract and BA is done with his , Klinsi will be our new coach!
Im being very optimistic , but its very possible.

Waiting is no fun at all.
I have to say this part surprised me...
The pay structure is not as high as the Premier League or for an international coach in Europe.
The legacy of Dr. Bob is that the Fed has the money. Why don't they want to spend it? Seems like the incremental $1-2MM would have quite a high ROI if we ended up with a top tier manager who could take us deep in 2010.

Bruce unleashed.. it's interesting to see how he really feels.
I support the move of USSF not renewing his contract. BUT maybe Bruce is right that USSF isn't run as well as it should be. Some of his USSF criticisms could hold merit.

That should help alleviate somewhat the "US-doesn't-play-against-quality-international-opposition" charge that many crtics level against the USMNT...

Agreed... 2 Copa Americas between every World Cup is very good competition. It doesn't match what Euro teams get between World Cups because they have harder WC qualifying and Euro qualifying. But it does significantly bridge the gap.

Umm, the USSF not run well. Not run by soccer people.
Is there anyone out there who didn't know this? This is news.
If itis I again am amazed at how few people know our game here.
Edit - this is not directed at you, but the statement in general because I am sure people do not know this. Just as sure as they had no idea how bad of a job Donut Boy did these last several months, and how average of a coach he is.

from your lips to God's ears...Hiddink is what we need at this point. If we go through dumping Arena (it was time for him to go), big talk from USSF, and end up with a less accomplished MLS coach than Arena, then what exaclty was the point, other than that Bruce and USSF were clearly sick of each other?

I think Hiddink would be great for us but I think he signed on to coach South Africa.

(if this is true) what is he thinking? doesn't he know the host nation in 2010 will be the US? :)

Gulati's got exactly the right approach. There's no rush. Do it right, don't just do it.
It doesn't make sense anyways to go fast, given the MLS season will end in a couple months and there are MLS coaches (Nowak maybe others) being considered.
