I visited Argentian about 15 years ago and have great memories of the country.

The food, the Quilmes beer, the people, the football and of course those beautiful women!!

I stayed at St george's College near Quilmes - near their ground. I also visited Lomas, Hurlingham and belgrano atheltic club....

i'd love to visit again and catch a game! How safe is the country and how safe is it to vist the bars and clubs and see the footy??

From the feedback I have, it seems to be pretty safe. Of course, you should not go alone in the night in certain places, but that's the case in most big cities.

It's a great time to go there. Everything is (still) very cheap.

I’ve been twice to Argentina in the last few years and I can assure you that Buenos Aires is perfectly safe. I’ve walked around at 4:00 in the morning and had no problems. Obviously, you need to be sensible, I wouldn’t recommend you walk round Le Boca after dark  , and if you’re going to get a taxi try and order one from the hotel you are staying at rather than hailing one from the street. Also I would recommend that if you do go to a football game try and go with a company that specialises in taking tourists to matches, there is a lot of violence at domestic Argentine games and you don’t want to being going on your own.

Otherwise, enjoy it really is a great place and incredibly cheap for tourists.

PS: If you get a chance, get the ferry to Montevideo and spend a day there, it's worth a visit.
