There is a golden boot,a golden ball, what about a golden ''traitor''?By that,I mean any player who played under any circumstances for the eternal rival of the club that he loved.I suppose Figo is an obvious choice, but I am wondering if there are any less known alternatives. For example in Greece PAOK fans back in the 70's went mad, when their best player ever(George Kudas)was signed by Olympiakos.Eventually the transfer was cancelled, due to their mobilisation! If I'm not mistaken Raul played for Atletico Madrid in his early age and Owen's father is an Everton veteran player!I vote Mimis Domazos,Panathinaikos's best player of all time who captained Panathinaikos in 1971 Wembley's champions cup final against Ajax and led them to 9(!)domestic league wins during his career, although he was a fan of Olympiakos!

Still,if I was in his shoes I would play for any other club, but Atletico's eternal rival.Raul was pretty talented,he could play for any club he liked,I don't think he was forced to choose the arch rivals.

i put the name of my winning eleven team on my profile.

leones negros is a now defunct team from the university of guadalajara.

it used to be my dad's favorite team, and i had an uncle who played for their youth system and was set to debut, but he broke his leg twice and never played with the senior team.

That's weird. I had an uncle too that was playing on the first team in the preseason of the 81-82 season (it might be 82-83).

In a practice, "el gato" chavez broke his leg and he returned to the states.

He's really good friends with Daniel Guzman and Octavio Mora, and they had high hopes for him. Nothing happened, obviously.

my uncle's name is ricardo perez.

he was a tronco center forward, and a good jumper (also did high jump, and won several competitions.)

he wasn't so good with his feet, but he was a monster in the air.

the week he's set to debut (it was either 92 or 93), one of the dirtiest hacks on his team breaks his leg.

i remember seeing him in crutches. he had them for a few months.

he made a comeback, and broke his leg again. he tried a third time, as a center back, but he was too debilitated.

he ended up graduating and became a lawyer.

The "Golden Traitor" award should go to Luis Figo for moving from Barca to Real.

I would say Mo Johnston, the first Catholic player for Rangers!!!!! He basically betrayed his entire background and the history behind it.

The Figo to Real Madrid transfer was a big news, but he was not the first plater to make the transfer. He was not Catalonian. He did not graduate from the Barcelona academy. He is just a professional player happened to be loved by the Barcelona fans. Most of the traitors in soccer history are similiar.

Mo Johnston now live in American and very rarely comes back to Scotland. The Celtic fans do not forget easily!

Personally I loved it! It knocked the stuffing out of Celtic and it took them years to recover. I’ll never forget his last minute winner against Celtic at Ibrox. :D

Definitely, although he wasn't Rangers' first Catholic player. He hands-down wins this one.

Grew up supporting Celtic, signed for them after he returned from a stint in England and was a darling of the fans - scored 55 goals in 3 seasons there and became a star internationally for Scotland. He bid a tearful farewell to them in the late 80s when he signed for Nantes, saying he would never be returning to the SPL. But he changed his mind, and said he would resign for Celtic after he completed his 3 year contract in France, saying "Celtic are the only club I ever want to play for."

However at the last minute he changed his mind and signed for Rangers, causing a massive uproar on both sides. Celtic fans branded him a traitor and sent him death threats, getting so bad that at one point it meant he had to live in an undisclosed location outside Glasgow to avoid irate supporters. Some sections of the Rangers fanbase were almost as bad, demonstrating outside Ibrox and burning their scarves and season tickets.

He went on to score 36 goals for Rangers (including a deliciously Schadenfreude last-minute winner over Celtic at Ibrox) leading them to 3 successive title wins, which set up a decade of dominance over their crosstown rivals.

I heard that he was basically an exile. He cannot live in Scotland for his own safety.

He can't. Just last year they had a charity Old Firm game. Mo was going to play one half for Rangers and one half for Celtic. He had to pull out though as the Celtic fans were going to boycott the match if he played.

Worse than Pat Jennings?

Absolutely.

Maybe its the fact that time is a great healer, but Pat Jennings is an idol at Spurs still. He actually has his own hospitality lounge where he greets guests on matchdays.

In fairness Spurs consented to his move to Arsenal.

Campbell though will never be forgiven. He deliberately misled Spurs fans by telling us he was going to stay, only to walk out to our most bitter rivals when he had the pick of any club in the world. The fact that we lost a £20m player for nothing didn't help matters either.

He will always be a judas and never forgiven.

I don't believe in this

So a club transfers a player for profit and/or because they feel he is not useful anymore, or flatout cuts him, not a whimper is heard. But if a player changes clubs for THE EXACT SAME REASON, he's a traitor ?

Horsesh!t.

Take today for example. There is a big stink in Italy because Sheva apparently kissed the Chelsea shirt after he scored this weekend (I didn't see it so I'll defer to it being true). Opinions are rampants, polls are being conducted, other players are piping in, etc, etc.

Sheva apparently had a press conference today to calm the storm. huh ?

Come on. What an exaggeration. Maybe Milan fans now know who Dynamo Kiev fans felt 7 years ago.

At least in this case I think it's a bit fake for Sheva to have done that. First game and already kissing the shirt ?? In his defense, he said that he loses his mind after he scores and doesn't even know what he's doing.

Whatever. I have no problems with players going to a rival.
