That's the lineup I would go with except maybe gonzalez for aurelio
Edit: On second thought, probably gonzalez off the bench. Aurelio it is. Speedy is fast but seemed like today all he did was get the ball and run in a straight line until he ran into someone, then lost the ball. Sub for now I guess.

You're really eager for the season to start.

I think Gonzo [and maybe Fowler, but maybe not b.c it is a road game] start this match for Aurelio [and Crouch].

Give Speedy a chance. He is going to catch on quick. Keep him in the starting 11, I say.

Cannot wait for the season to start. THe World cup seems a distant memory, and the Community Shield (while a bauble no doubt) sure whets the apetite.

hala--Gonzo is going to need time to settle. Loads of talent, but he aint in Spain anymore...

How is Robbie's knee? I read somewhere it was injured. I missed the preseason (been a bit busy with this teacher cert in Mexico.) Anything else I should know about?

Belamy looked good when he came on today. I sure hopes he can keep his cool.

I'd love to see him net 15-20, Robbie and Crouchie 10-15 each, and Gerrard another 20 plus season. I´m really looking forward to the season!

Good to see United back in the Prem. I hope they can stay up but I certainly don't want us contribute to their point collection to do it.

Don't missunderestimate them as King Georgie W would say.

Yup, except I don't see Aurelio starting, Zenden will start most likely.

That works against he likes of Sheffield. M. Gonzalez is better than that. So far has looks like he is trying too hard. I would give him the start. Its a good opportunity to get his confidence up.

Maybe there is a place for Garcia too. He has looked good so far. Better than Bellamy and Crouch.

Lets get this season started off the right way. 3-0 to Liverpool.

And he was quite the spark coming in against Maccabi.....

He does deserve the start

Finnan----Sami--Carra---Riise

Gerrard---Momo--Xabi--Zended/Speedy

---------Garcia------------------

-------------------Crouch-------

Although I'd be interested in seeing Bellamy at least once playing up front as the top striker.

Like he did against Maccabi? No thanks.

Edited your lineup
while I'd love to see Bellamy pair with Crouch from the off, i think Rafa's cautious side is going to see us go 4-5-1 as shown above.
Bench:
Agger
Bellamy
Pennant
Aurelio
Gonzalez

Which is OK for this match, as he will need to get used to the style of play in the Prem. And who better to start against than some wide-eyed newbies? ;^)

Yeah, I'll cheers to that. For some reason, I had a soft spot for Sheffield United while they were in the Championship.

At any rate, I absolutely cannot wait for Saturday. I think it's fantastic that, for the first time in a while, the lineup isn't automatic. This hopefully will spur our boys on to be even more competitive as they'll be playing for Rafa to give them more playing time. If I had to hazard a guess:

-----------------Reina-------------------

Finnan -----Sami --------Carra---------Riise

Gerrard -------- Momo --------- Xabi ---------Zenden

------------Pennant------------------------------

-----------------------Crouch-------------------------

Reserves:
Dudek
Gonzalez
Garcia
Bellamy
Agger

How is Aurelio's health, btw? Will he even be fit for this weekend?

Final score prediction: Sheffield 0-2 Reds

He went 20 minutes against Chelski. Laid the pass on to put Bellamy in position to feed Crouch for the winning goal. Would've had a third for us on a snap shot at the back post if Cuddicini hadn't made a very good save. I'd say he'll be fit.

Looking forward to seeing more Bellamy and Gonzales. Never been to Bramall Lane either, hear it's not the most pleasant of grounds.

Fowler played very well on Wednesday in the friendly. Am I the only one who'd like to see him on the bench? Kuyt's trained with the squad for, what now, half a day?
