As you might know, Jimmy's out for 4-6 weeks getting his jaw wired shut. If there is anyone who deserves get well cards and a show of support from us, it's Jimmy.

I'd like to think of something nice or something funny that we could get for Jimmy to help get him through this time. I know guys that have had this done, and it's not fun at all.

He said the jaw would be wired shut next week. He’ll then be on a liquid diet for six weeks. Doctors told him to expect to lose 10-15 pounds. “I knew something was up (when I was hit),” Conrad said. “I couldn’t talk. When I got back on the field, I couldn’t yell like I usually do.”

Not really. It's going to be rough both on him and the team.

Anybody have any ideas for what we could do? A card signed by everyone would certainly be in order, but something humorous as well might be good.

A collection of swirly straws? A case of Jello, Chicken Noodle Soup, and a sign language instructional book?

I like the idea of the straws, that's funny. All those different designs and stuff would be pretty funny. Count me in for whatever.

Her idea was to have everyone in the Cauldron give him a unique one at the next home game. We'll put tags on them, and everyone can write their own note to Jimmy on it. They'll be bundled up and presented to him.

I'll pick up some of the other stuff, and we'll have to clear it with the team still.

I'd like to do a large card that we can sign. Something custom that makes Dempsey look like the tool he is. I might be able to do this too, but if anyone with photoshop skills wants to take this on, I'll get the card made from the file.

I just sent you another PM about this. Another idea that I have in addition to the straws is that, along as a giant card type thing. I think that it'd be really great IF, so you pick the straw that you want to give him. And we'll have like little pieces of paper, kinda like the tags that you put on x-mas gifts, we'll have those and you can write a little message or well wishings or just say thanks to him. and we can tie them onto the straw that you wan to be "yours" to him. then i was thinking that depending on the way that we can present them to him, we could kinda bundle them up in like 10-15 per bundle and kinda tie em together with ribbon or something. like a bundle of wild straws (wild flowers) and give em to em like that with the jumbo card and whatnot....
it's just an idea. i thought it'd make it more personal for all involved and puts some really small touches on it that might make it more special as well.
PM me if you want to help with the shopping of the straws. So far Mike is going to be a straw shopper with me as well. I'm looking for at least 1 more person and then that should probably be enough. We'll have to get together and all go to ensure the chances of having no duplicate straws to have them all be original

Spend whatever you need to get the straws. I'll take care of the rest. I'm sure if you ask people to throw you a couple of bucks at the watch party or tailgate, we'll have no problem recoouping it.
