It feels like the end of an era (albeit a short era for me). In the two years I've been following Reading, I've seen them live once and have never seen them on TV. But I religiously followed them on internet radio, giving up sleep to wake up early on Saturdays, risking the internet police while I listened in at work, and once I even coughed up enough dough to listen in at a Kinkos after flying into Phoenix before driving down to a cousin's wedding in Tucson.
And now, a week away still, the DVR is set and my nerves are in overdrive... I'll actually get to SEE them play (I don't care about the delay, it will be live to me!!). I know it won't happen every week and that's OK - I'd miss those quiet early mornings at the computer - I'm over the moon just to get to see them every few weeks!!!
Here we go... Premier league!!!

Yes, it will be great to actually see them pretty frequently this year on TV and through internet streams, instead of just listening to the games nervously. I'm hoping I'll be able to find a stream for the Middlesbrough match, because I know damn well I won't be able to stay away from the result until the afternoon.
I'm very nervous about these first few games because they are part of one of the easiest stretches in the schedule, and a failure to do well during that stretch would be disappointing and put the team in a poor position. A win to kick off the first season of Premiership football at Madejski Stadium would be great.

Can you put an R in the thread title so we can use this as the "official" match thread?

I generally don't like predicting matches that I have an interest in, but this is the first Premiership match..its at the Mad Stad..I'll go with a 2-1 win for Reading with a late score from Kitson. I just have a good feeling about it, and I'm generally pretty negative. I'm not going to be able to sleep Friday night.

I think you can just go to edit on the first post, then change the title to add an [R] at the end. I'm not quite sure about that, though.

For some reason I am not seeing the edit button. Maybe I'm blind  maybe it's way the forum has been set up????
<Edit>It's a time thing... as soon as I submitted this reply, I saw the edit button, but it's not there on older posts. Sorry.

I watched them this weekend and they're very good. but I'm sick to my stomach about the opening games. If they break from the gates well, they have a great chance of staying up. If they stumble in these first weeks, it's going to be so difficult.
Still, my money (at 5-2, not great, but not bad) is on them finishing in the top 14.
I just really hope Reading bring in one or two more quality players (my nerves were increased by sodje's play. was not impressed, but coppell is right, he really can jump).

It's the strech between 9/23 and 11/4 that concerns me. They've got to face ManU, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool during that period.
I don't know what prior season schedules have looked like for newly promoted clubs, but facing 4 top-flight clubs over a 6 week period right before the Christmas break seems a bit unfair.

What really reeks is that almost everyone they play has been in the prem before. I mean, that can't be fair, can it?
You can get odds on Reading avoiding the drop, pretty poor money (bet 2 to get 1) but as safe as any Reading bet will go this season.

Match is delayed on FSC (11:00am PDT) - I don't know what the time is for the EPL package.

I'm not sure who is moderating this forum... but can you go ahead and change the thread title for us (add a results tag)? If anyone knows who it is, let me know and I'll send them a message. Thanks.
