For quite a while, don't know how long though.
There's been quite a bit of smack coming out of Basel these days:
"Zurich is a soccer ghost town."
- Boris Smiljanic
"It was Fabrice Borer's fault that our fancorner had to be closed for one game."
- Mario Cantaluppi
Sure it was Mario . Looks to me like Basel is nervous as hell. Christian Gross had all trainings closed to the public. This should be great...
Hopp GC!

Welcome FC Basel 1893.
It should be a great game. Those are some fighting words that the players said. Not the smartest thing to say when you are playing the top team. If I remember, you always wanted to avoid giving bulletin board quotes I guess not in this case.
In a somewhat related note, the Basel players each recieved over 200 000 CHF each for the CL Games they played in. Not a bad payout.

Switzerland round-up:

The game ended 2-2. I would be really happy with the result if we wouldn't have led twice. Going ahead 1-2 with 15 min to go - that should be win. I also read that Basel's equalizer might have been unjust. Some say that a foul on GC keeper Borer allowed M. Yakin to get to the ball. Oh well, I know that Basel fans have an even tougher time dealing with this game.
4 points bitches, 4 POINTS! :D

What is Nunez? I shall tell you. He's the player that continually sinks your team like the titanic.

joup bi in Basel an dr FHBB.... Ahh übrigends, lieber Dütschland als Ziri :D
it was a very hard game. There were allways strange (blue/white) players which were fouling all the time. So the game wasn't "fluently".
After a lot of yellow cards the game became better, because GC had to pay attention. So in the 2. half basel could show their power, GC was outplayed by Basel. (Sorry about my "Google English :))
PS: Nice Pictures... I was just over the "S" of "Scene Basel"

What does that sign in the stadium mean:
"Willkuer & Intrigen: Wir werden staerker trotz euren Luegen"
Who/what is Willkuer & Intrigen?

Nice pictures.
Very similar blues on the shirts, I wonder if that caused any trouble.
Have to admit, i like both uniforms. Very clean looking.

arbitrariness and intrigues - We become stronger despite your lies.
we had a lot of trouble with the Executive committee of FC Basel.... There were a few incidents with fans which throw thinks on the soccer field (inter alia to the referee and goal keeper of GC) after a provokation of the goal keeper. It was a emotional game, so it's not something special that there were flying lighter and coins! In Italy thats standard (they threw vespas and dead animals :)). By mischance one of the lighter hit a referee, the game was interrupted for 5 min.
result of these occurrences, one fan block became closed for one game... the standing blocks of the stadium were transformet to seats... And there were a lot of arbitary stadion prohibitions. So it was a protest against the own Club.
PEACE!!!

Won an Oscar and then made an anti-Bush speach after he was asked not to do it.
