I leave for U of I 19/08, the day we open up vs. Villa. But that won't stop me from watching the season opener @ The Globe.

Come one, come all to The Globe next Saturday, guys. I want to make my last day in town, and my last glimps of quality football live worthwhile :D .

Hmm, I've never went but maybe I should consider it since my stupid sat. dish will be out unless I get it repositioned before then.

Are we required to drink beer for breakfast?? :p

Should one go early, is it always packed? And the match will be live? and what time!

Eh, I used to go to almost every game (yes, I am a diehard :D ), the only packed games were Chelsea, Man Utd, and of course the CL Final. The Final was rediculous, I mean there HAD to be at least 1,000 people.

Dude as a fellow Fighting Illini your first beer is on me. The usual suspects will be at The Globe.

yeah, its typically not too bad and I don't expect us and Villa is going to attract a huge crowd. That said, it should be a slightly larger than usual crowd as the match isn't on FSC, it is the season opener, and more importantly the first league match at the Emirates.

I'll be there and look forward to seeing all you lot there.

Oh yeah...I should add, "Indiana, Our Indiana, Indiana, We're all for you..."

It looks like I will be going out of town this weekend, but I'm definitely in for future get togethers. FWIW, my friends and I typically go to Fado's...it's not quite as hardcore, but they get pretty good crowds (esp. for the marquee match-ups) and the waitresses are a lot cuter than The Globe. :)

Fado's is on Clark and Grand. It's the best place that I've found to watch footie in the downtown area. One drawback -- the place isn't really designed for great tv viewing (though they do have nice plasmas), so it helps to get there early to grab a good seat.

If you don't work in the downtown area and need other recommendations, I can try to help too.

I belive they start serving alcohol after 8.

I can't decide if I should come home for this one. But if I do come home, I'll be there.

You'd prolly know better then me, I was just guessing from what I remember in the past. There's no cover Saturday is there? Since there's no more PPV matches are the charging for matches any more?

the only cover i've ever paid at the globe was when Setanta had their employee sitting at the door collecting money (League Cup final, FA Cup semis and final)

Ya, same here. I was just wondering if you had heard from Gary or anyone else if they were going to be taking money on more occasions now, or will it be same as it was.
