News on Sky Sports News.
Very strange one. We surely don't need 3 players for LB, unless Fergie is planning on doing something different with Heinze.
Apparently Park has also extended his deal, which is much better news.

Sir Alex Ferguson commented: “Mikael has been an important member of the squad for seven years now. His experience at the Club will help the younger players as they develop and he has a central role to play in the first team."
I didn’t think he was going to leave this year just for the fact no one would want him ....but I guess it’s good to have cover when vidic and brown can be some what injury prone

give the guy a break... yeah, he's inconsistent, but he had some good games for us 2nd half of the yr.!
plus... he's a guy that, perish the thought, doesn't wanna leave the club!

I think you hit it. He had a very good second half of the season. I think thats what earned him a new deal. He is not really bad as a back-up at CB or LB.
As for Park, I am really happy to see him sign a new contract. I was a bit worried he felt this was his make or break season and perhaps try to hard.
I have watched quite a few replays of United games over the summer that reinforced my opinion that Park can play (and start) for United.

It just makes Evra seem redundant. Silvestre refused to go to Lyon because they would not guarantee him a first team place. If Evra and Heinze (and maybe O'Shea) need to be accomodated at LB then where are his first team games going to come from?
I don't suppose something weird is on the horizon like us selling Evra?

Horrid news. My only hope is that this is a ploy to keep his value high so we don't chuck him off for nothing with just a year or two left on his deal. However, its still bad news. Silvestre is not good enough anylonger and he's not the answer at LB. We've got more than amble cover at CB.
Rio, Brown, Vidic, O'Shea Evans/Pique, Heinze
Ample cover at LB in Heinze, Evra, O'Shea, Bardsley
I don't like the idea of keeping Silvestre around to be 4th CB option or 3rd LB option. I'm not convinced that O'Shea isn't better than him at LB anyway so he could well by 4th LB option. He's making a fair amount so we could slash the wage bill by flogging him off on the cheap. I'm really tired of seeing Silvestre in a United uniform. We've got no need for him.

... or something worse... a (never gonna be) fully recovered heinze.

Silvestre is our second-best LB, and given Heinze's injury problems and apparent interest from other teams, the extension makes sense to me.
He's also played extremely well 2nd half of last season. I have no problem with the move.

OK, I don't usually place the "kick me" sign on my own back, but I'm going to do so now. I actually think Silvestre is a decent player. He's good at a lot of things without being exceptional at any. He's quite versatile. He can play center back in a pinch. By pinch I mean when Vidic sucks or is carded, Rio is away for international duty, someone is injured, and invariably Wes Brown will be injured a half-hour later.
Silvestre is a good but not great passer, who can add a lot to the attack. He's a good aerial threat offensively, familiar enough with the players to pick out the right man with the final pass, he has decent wheels. If SAF wants Evra to settle, it makes sense to keep Silvestre around. Even if by 2008-2009 he's the last choice defender, he still has value helping to teach the young defenders coming through. He is also one of those players that doesn't need coddling or prodding. He comes to camp ready to play and he does his job without question. A coaching staff can only accomodate so many precocious egos. Silvestre shouldn't cause a fuss. With so much change happening up top and in midfield, I'm actually happy for some consistency in the back.
NOTE: I never said he was a great player, nor did I say United doesn't have or couldn't find a more skilled player. I think he'll transition from a part-time starter to a squad player during this contract.
OK, commence the kick me's. :(

Is this some kinda joke? Evans just started playing for the reserves a few months ago yet he's 10 times better than Silvestre at cb, and Evra has improved alot in preseason, AND we have the indespensable Argentina. Why is he staying?

10X ...????
i am going to agree with stud and DT ....like i said it's a good idea to keep him around with Brown, vidic and Gabby are all injury prone.. There is nothing wrong with having extra cover

Excuse me???? if that "deal" you're referring to is the Michael Carrick deal, then you're really underestimating an extremely talented player. The price is fair to criticize, but he's a class player, make no mistake.
As for why Silvestre wouldn't be part of that deal, perhaps you haven't been following Spurs closely in the last season or two, but they're building a nice team. Spurs are committed to the buy and develop strategy for most of their team. They're only adding veterans who can step into the starting lineup immediately and provide immediate help for at least 3 years.
When your team has 7 young England potentials including the starting England keeper (Robinson), two England National pool players (King and Dawson) at center back, and another 3 or 4 pool players in midfield/forward (Lennon, Jenas, Defoe, and possibly *Huddlestone), you're not talking about a team that is desperate for a stop-gap solution in defense. I'm quite sure Spurs would prefer the money to buy their own players--something they've done quite astutely over the last few seasons--rather than an exchange for someone who might not step into the starting lineup. This is why players like Silvestre, O'Shea and Fletcher wouldn't really be appealing to Spurs.
Any fullback purchase by Spurs would be an attempt to upgrade the starters, and at this juncture of Silvestre's career, he wouldn't be projected a Spurs starter for very long if at all. :( The only fullback Spurs have really considered lately have been Wayne Bridge (too expensive at 6M+ even if Chelsea would sell him to a cross-town rival) and Cimbonda, whom Spurs were trying to acquire at the cut-rate price of 2M. There has also been speculation that Spurs have been in for Lucas Neil, but honestly, if they were I'd think that deal would be done quickly, as he's a proven commodity in the Premiership and couldn't possibly be worth any more than 1M. Squad players for fullback aren't what Spurs are looking for, Staltieri is already there, plus Philip Ifil hasn't been written off just yet.
*Huddlestone is more potential and projection than anything, but he has shown talent and looks like a bright one. Many are predicting English National Team status for him in the future ... but thus far it's potential at best, thus why I said 6 or 7.

Umm.... Didn't read your rant because to be honest I don't need a long winded lecture. Plus before going off on a tantrum you should let me respond to the original question...
The answer is Cock Suck is an anagram for Kuzcak or whatever the ******** that Polish keepers name is....
I'll accept your apology now and move on thanks...

Me neither. He is a very good Left back, and I think this move is fine. He gets forward decently, and its not a bad thing to have cover at the position. He also has heart...he could have left in January but stuck it out.
