--The Bundesliga starts today (http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story?id=375301&root=europe&cc=5739) as Bayern and Dortmund play at the Allianz-Arena, one of two stadiums in Germany I really missed out on this summer (ironically, the Signal Iduna Park/Westfalstadion was the other one).
Can someone at least give Bayern a run this time around? Yes, it seems Werder Bremen is the most likely candidate, and HSV, Stuttgart or Schalke could pretend for a time to be a lead dog--but it just seems almost a done deal that Bayern walks away with another title.
And how do they win every season? I put it down to availability of merchandise. Every city this summer, stuff for the home team? Hard to find. Bayern? Available in every department store. That's the key, and I'm sticking to it.
--Nice breakdown by the YA crew (http://www.yanks-abroad.com/content.php?mode=extratime&id=002032) on the German contingent.
--Quantity begats quality when it comes to keepers? (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/m/man_utd/5252406.stm) Looks like SAF is just throwing stuff against the wall to see what sticks. And as much as I would like him to succeed and thrive at United, perhaps Tim Howard would be better off for 2010 at Goodison or another port of call.
--Excellent choice by Steve McLaren to name John Terry as England's new captain. (http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=409037&CPID=219&clid=114&lid=554&title=Terry+named+England+skipper) His maturation off and on the field has served Chelsea and England well, and likely will continue to.
--I'm going out drinking tonight. (http://www.monkscafe.com/) Someone wake me up for the 9:30am game on GolTV, alright? Thanks.
