I have been a direct TV subscriber for 10 years and season package holder for at least 5. I was able to watch every champions match live on my TV last year. Except for the 2 I attended.

Lots of question have been brought up about this subject so I thought I simplifiy if in on short review.

First FoxSoccer channel. Nothing will change. Nothng. FSC only offered live matches for the one noon kickoff on Saturday and the evening game on Saturday, thats it. Period. They also show Monday Night Football live (though it airs at 2:30 cst here) FSC will continue to show the majority of the larger club matches on delay as has been their policy for some time.

Setanta has simply picked up the right to was previously pay per view. But instead of 15 bucks a match, its 11 a month for the saturday and sunday live matches at the tradition kickoff times of 3 on Saturday and 4 on Sunday. The matches will usually be the biggest match of the weekend, usually an Arsenal, United, Chelsea or Liverpool match. Essentially Setanta has replace the old PPV system.

Champtions league. ESPN has the right to pick the first choice game. Always either seeminly ManUtd/Real madrid. Setanta has second choice and shows live matches on both match days and they picked Arsenal as their first choice every time. Setanta will rebroadcast those match and several other CL matches over the fornight prior to the next match day.

Hope this simplifies the confusion.

Now we just need Comcast to pick up Setanta. I refuse to switch to satellite after having several bad experiences with it in the past, but this setanta package is tempting.

I wonder when they are going to start broadcasting premiership games in HD. I got spoiled on the world cup, now watching the chelski/real/barca games on FSC is painfully dull.

I have comcast, too, and I'm also hoping they pick up Setanta soon. Games in HD would be great as well, but that's asking for a bit much now...Anyways, fortunately the Globe isn't too far for me, so I'm expecting to spend a lot of Saturday mornings there...

Some of us do not have the ability to put the DISH or DIRECTV on our buildings... so if Comcast doesn't pick up SETANTA, I'm f***ed. I don't have the option of driving into Boston to see every match!

Gonna email & call COMCAST... repeatedly!

Holy shit. Billy, did you know that you went an entire month without starting a thread! That's awesome, i'm really proud of the progress you've made in conquering this addiction. Seriously. :)

(mods; please merge this thread into the Arsenal on TV sticky) ;) :D

FSC no longer seems to be carrying the Saturday noon (7:30 am EST) match live anymore and will instead show a 3 pm match live (10 am EST), albeit it won't be the premier matchup, on Saturdays, will still show the evening match on Saturdays live (5 pm EST)....but now will also show the Sunday afternoon match (11 am EST) which was previously the PPV slot. Also Monday night matches (3 pm EST) as you said will continue to air on FSC. From soccertv.com:

Saturdays at 7:30am ET: Setanta Sports USA
Saturdays at 10am ET: Setanta Sports USA has the 1st and 3rd picks, FOX Soccer Channel has the 2nd and 4th picks
Saturdays at 12noon ET: FOX Soccer Channel
Sundays at 8:30am ET or 9am ET: Setanta Sports USA
Sundays at 11am ET: FOX Soccer Channel
Mondays at 3pm ET: FOX Soccer Channel
Tuesdays-Fridays: Setanta Sports USA has the 1st pick, FOX Soccer Channel has the 2nd pick

This is the first year they're showing premiership games in HD in the UK, 92 of them on sky. Also Setanta broke the premiership TV monopoly and isn't broadcasting any matches in HD in the UK -yet- as it only has an SD channel.

We're a ways off.

Slightly off-topic, but does anyone have any experience with Sirius satellite radio and their premiership broadcasts? I just subscribed a couple months ago and love it, but they don't have a schedule up yet for the prem. Do they provide all/a lot of the games, or just one per week, or what? If I can hear Arsenal reguarly that way I might pass on ATVO this year.

four about 2 seasons, the satellite provider VOOM, had a world sport channel where they braodcast La Liga in HD, it was pretty cool.

jp, it was the close season, who starts threads in the close season.

I wish Time Warner Cable would get with the (Setanta) Program! I get the ESPN CL games, and the FSC PL games, but with Setanta picking up so many good games Time Warner needs to include it in some sort of package. Anyone know whether they will/have?

;)

I was unavailable for the final so I don't know. Most of the Arsenal games were on Setanta so I didn't watch alot ESPN's coverage, but I don't think so.

I was able to listen to a few matches last season (post-Christmas), usually while on the road to somewhere. It's a direct feed from the BBC (I think) and is certainly enjoyable.
