Carlos Queiroz has been linked with the vacant manager's position at Porto.

According to reports in Portugal, Manchester United's assistant manager is one of the main candidates to succeed Co Adriaanse at Porto.

Queiroz is a well respected figure at Old Trafford, but has a clause in his contract allowing him to leave for €1.8 million (£1.2 million) and The Red Devils could be tempted to cash in.

Porto are currently on tour in England, and speculation suggests that club bosses will seek out Queiroz for talks.

"We intend to resolve the situation by the weekend," said president Pinto the Silva.

I said this on another board too, Wouldnt cry a river if he left, he's good but we could do better. Super Shame that someone like Rene left the club he could have been an awesome number two.

I want him gone. Now who's on the short list to replace him?

Fact is, he came back to Manchester United from Real Madrid because he felt he was in prime position to take over from Alex after he resigns. However, Ferguson doesn't seem to be retiring anytime soon.. or could he? This could very well be his last season, although no one is telling. Queiroz has spent two seasons back with us and does not seem anywhere nearer the manager post. I'd say he'll be tempted to leave..

If he doesn't, then we know FOR SURE he'll be taking over.

If he does, then I hope something comes out of the Capello thing.

It's in the best interests of the club for Queiroz to stay.... unless y'all want us ruled out of the Iberian market and definitely on course to losing Ronaldo..

If Queroz does leave, how about a return of Kidd? Where is he these days? Someone else that I think would be a good addition is Alex McLeish. He already has a good relationship with Ferguson and did a pretty good job at Rangers.

Very good point. We need Queiroz to stick around for ronaldo if nothing else.

I firmly believe whether carlos is here or not, ronaldo is gone. Just wait till England has to face Portugal once again in competition. Ronaldo will do something that won't please the english or he will score the winning goal and all hell will break loose again. :D

England wont have that clown eriksson in charge next time. So portugal may well get a pasting.

Highly unlikely.

I dont mind him staying now that Rene is gone. The other people I had in mind, Im not sure they would want to leave being the head hancho at another club, to being Fergie's flunky. (Lippi and Hughes).

"Football is a game of opinions, we do not play with one up front, nor two but with three. People have been crying out for us to use a 4-4-2 formation and in the Blackburn game we played with a 4-4-2 system for the first time and lost! Obviously losing at home is always hard to accept.

It is not an everyday feeling at this club and we are frustrated, even more so because we had chances to score in the game with Blackburn. We are not happy, but there is no lack of confidence. We prepared well and the result was just an accident. The performance gives me confidence for the future and I am hopeful that we can win against Benfica on Tuesday..."
