Hi I am going over to watch a couple of games in Argentina next year (Clausura 2007). Can someone let me know what prices are for everyday things? How many pesos is a beer or coffee? What about price in pesos for an average meal for 2 at a restaurant?
Thanks and sorry for being a bit off topic.

Buenos Aires is really, really cheap (from our point of view i.e. people living in England) City. You can go to really swanky bars and get a beer for the equaivakent of 1 US dollar, whereas a beer in the equivalent bar in London would cost over 3 pounds. Food is also very cheap, especially Steak. :D
Myself and my friend went to a terndy cafe where we had a steam meal, 2 coffees, a ice cream and this came to roughly 7 quid.
The only thing that was relatively expensive was the curry we had in Palermo in a restaurant called Khatmandu.
If you're going to the football then try www.gofootball.com, they will pick you up from your hotel, take you to the game and drop you back at your hotel afterwards. It's not really safe to go to a game by yourself. This will probably cost you about 24 quid, which is pretty good considering you get a taxi service to and from your hotel and the best seat in the house. Buenos Aires is one of my favourite city's in the world, a great place, enjoy.
Oh, and the women are gorgeous. :D

Argentina my friend is very cheap at this moment for foreign people, especially if they came from North America or Europe.
Do you know what would you like more? If you go to a game in Buenos Aires, other tho Rosario, other to Cordoba and other to Mendoza. It isnīt expencive to you, and you can enjoy almost all Argentina, also Argentina is a save country.

"also Argentina is a save country." I think you meant safe, but apparently you don't live in Capital Federal... Anyway that's a pretty good idea, All those cities are beatiful, and you must see the girls in Rosario...

hello, I am going on honeymoon to Argentina on 14th October until the 28th.
I am desperate to see at least 1 game and preferably 1 Boca 1 River but thats in no way definate if there is a better game on offer!
But as its my honeymoon I can't do my usual trips to every ground going. I can do maybe 2 at a push with a cheeky ground visit during shopping time or if I accidently happen to be in the area of one!.
I think I'm staying in Palermo in BA on the first few nights and Boca v Newells is on the day I arrive. What time is kick off normally? Are they evening games, would I be able to get tickets for this game easily?
I am off to Patagonia in the middle of the week but am planning to be back in BA on saturday as its the weekend and surely its the place to be in Argentina on the weekend! Anyway River Plate play Rosario Central and Racing play Boca and Velez are at home too. Club loyalties aside which is the best bet for a great safe football experience. (bearing in mind I will have my new wife with me but as a Leeds fan I dont mind a bit of a "lively" atmosphere in fact I miss it in English football in these days of all seater stadia)
Are there any midweek games? Cup games or anything? I can only find league fixtures.
Does the second division Nacional B play on saturday? are there any big clubs in BA struggling in the lower leagues that would be worth a visit either in that or at the 3rd division level?
Do any of the grounds do tours that I/we could go on? are they worthwhile?
All info gratefully received as I said its my honeymoon and I have got to be super efficient with my football time!!

1. Boca v Newells - Actual match dates & times aren't announced until a few days before. Check local sports paper Ole for details. Games can be on Friday night, Sat or Sunday but Boca usually play on Sunday late afternoon or early evening but you probably wouldn't be able get tickets on the day. Best to arrange a tour - maybe your hotel can help?
2. River v Central is probably the safer option & less likely to frighten your new wife!
3. Cup games - There is the Copa Sudamericana. There may be some games on at that time. It depends who gets through the previous round. River, Boca, Velez & San Lorenzo are all from Bs As & could have a game at that time. It's even possible that River & Boca could meet each other then in the Q-F
4. B Nacional - They usually play on Saturdays but can also be Thurs or Mon depending on TV coverage. Huracan is quite a big club with a nice stadium (Ossie Ardiles' ex-club). There's several clubs called Huracan - this is the one in Parque Patricios in Bs As. There's also Ferro Carril Oeste in Caballito. But don't expect attendances like we have in The Championship
5. Tours - Boca have a good museum & do stadium tours (not on match days). River also do tours & have a new museum but not sure if it's open yet.
If you can't get to the games a good place to watch football is in a swish bar/restaurant called "Locos x el futbol" which is in Recoleta near the cemetery though your other half may not appreciate the pretty waitresses!
