OK guys, I have asked the question before. I am going to school at U of Illinois very soon. The day of move-in is the Arsenal game. I need to have my Gunners while away from FSC, Setanta, etc coverage. I am willing to pay, but friggen Microsoft DRM is N/A on Mac OS X.

What would you guys do?? Oh, and I prefer not to pay a dime ;)

Thanks. Mike

Mike,
If you're not willing to pay, you're totally out of luck. However, if you subscribe to ATVO, I've heard the new Flip4Mac Quicktime plugin will allow you to watch the video streams. I've not done it personally, so you may want to ask around.

Microsoft, bastards that they are, will no longer update Windows Media Player on Mac OS X. Flip4Mac is the best hope for Apple users.

If you know any HTML code, as a subscriber, you can login to ATVO, view the source and find the source URL for the video. I've successfully listened to matchday audio that way.

On Champions League matches, foreign video streams often show up and members will post links to the action when available.

Cheers,
Doug

As far as I have been able to see, there isn't yet a PPLive solution for Mac, unfortunately. In the past, I've just hooked up my old PC and used it that way for matches.

If you have one of the newer Intel-based Macs, obviously you could install Windows on it and then run it that way. Mine though is a G4 Powerbook, so no luck there.

By the way, where are you staying at U of I? I was at FAR for two years.

Sometime in the past week or so Arseblogger had a link on this very subject. Actually, here it is: http://arseblog.com/WP/?p=126. Down near the bottom.

ATVO works for me most of the time....but its not a great experiance. Torrents are your friend if you want to watch games.

That Flip4Mac Quicktime plug-in does not work!
I ran to download and install it as soon as arseblog mentioned it, but still no ATVO luck.

I am getting increasingly pissed about this. It is absolutely ridiculous that I've been waiting, wallet open, for over a year and I still cannot gladly hand over my money for this service.

I guarantee you there will be someplace at U Illinois that will show Fox Soccer Channel at the very least. Just ask around the bars there.

What version of Mac OS do you have? I believe with X you can get Virtual PC, which will let you use Windows applications. The requirements are at the link below:

If you think it will work, PM me.

Dude, you really should have thought of this before you:

1) Went to U of I
2) Bought a Crapple

Honestly. Your lack of foresight is probably why you went to a public university.

I hope you are also an NFL fan, so I can LAUGH at the atrocity that is the SF 49ers :D. Remember that oh so blustery day when Nathan Vasher flat out owned the entire SF Special Teams?

Anyhow, that Virtual PC thing sounds enticing.

Oh, me? Never. Summa cum laude in fact. I used to study for my exams on the back of my Chris Craft in between games of lawn tennis with Georgy.
