Here is the official goal of the group that is studying the feasibility of a new stadium:

"The objective is confirmed: It is the construction and the use of a building complex containing a new football stadium with 12'500 places, six gyms, a fire/ambulence station and a mall of 24’000m2 with a parking garage of 930 places. The project will be fininanced by private partners. The total investement will be around 200 million CHF."

go to the "Selectionez votre destination" and go to Photos. Looks like it could be really nice. Plus parking in Neuchatel is terrible and this would help. But Neuchatel has a good public trasnsit system (like all of Switzerland), so it is not as essential there as here in the US.

The project would take two years, and Xamax would have to play elsewhere for this time. They have suggested three sites:
Serrières
La Chaux-de-Fonds (La Charrière)
Colombier (Anneau d’athlétisme)

The preferable site is Colombier where temp seeting could be installed to 6k persons. Both Serrieres and Colombier at close to Neuchatel while La Chaux is farther away.

Looks pretty cool to me. Maybe they can do a strobe light effect after goals.

Look very nice but no parking?I guess tailgateing isn't a big thing in Switzerland

The parking will be under near the stadium under the mall portion of the project. Most fans take public transportation to games, so talegating is not a very common occurance.

Yesterday the city of Neuchatel agreed to sell 32,000m2 to Coop and HRS to construct the new stadium complex. THe debate lasted two hours and according to reports it was very hotly contested.

Looks like the new stadium in Neuchatel is on the right path.

Two years from the ground breaking. Xamax will have to play outside of Neuchatel for two years, but there aer locations in the subburbs where they could play.

So is it going to be 12,000 or 14,000? I've heard both numbers...
