I was reading on Wikipedia tonight about UEFA 5 Star Stadia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Stadia_List).
These are stadiums that are qualified to host Champions League and UEFA Cup Finals. They have to be hold at least 50,000 spectators and meet additional criteria. As far as I can tell, Ashburton Grove fits all the criteria. I wonder if and when it will be accredited, and how long it will take to get a CL Final there. I'm guessing it won't be too long, probably within the next five years? After all, London hasn't hosted a CL Final since 1992. Wembley will be some competition if it ever gets finished, maybe they should make a bid for 2008, before Wembley is even finished. ;)

02/03 - Juventus versus AC Milan
Anyway, it would be good to see England finally catch up with Scotland in terms of 5-star stadia.

Although I should add that whether Celtic Park actually has the official 5-star rating is still the source of some controversy, particularly from the other side of Glasgow. Plus how could a stadium that is nicknamed 'the piggery' be awarded a 5-star rating? ;)

The fact that Paradise is 5-star is not controvesial at all it is a top notch venue-more than you can say about the piece of crap Ibrox.

Prove that it is 5-star.
There are lots of conflicting reports from Celtic, UEFA and the press. You still had work to do in order to bring it up to standard and I haven't see anything to suggest that it has been completed yet. I also haven't seen anything about passing the official UEFA inspection, in order to be officially awarded that status.

I think it's a scottish 5 star, which is the equivelant to an English 2 star.
Beaten race, they work for us now

In 2002 Celtic Park was voted the UK's best sporting venue on a BBC radio poll. Without a doubt the best atmosphere you will find in all of sport, and as much as I like Arsenal it is very well known that Highbury did not have the same kind of atmosphere that Parkhead has. And who cares about this UEFA 5-star garbage-I'd rather have a loud crowd then a nice stadium.

hahahahahahahahahahahaha...
Your usual glory hunters and plastic paddies rigged that particular poll. The atmosphere at Celtic Park is pretty poor at the best of times. If Celtic are involved in an Old Firm match, Cup final or big European night, then fair enough the atmosphere they create is great. The rest of the time it's a joke. You get a better atmosphere at Ibrox and Hampden, with the best in Scotland being at Tynecastle. Celtic fans are like Liverpool fans. All talk.

and mind you the gates were open the two times I was up in E'burgh....just walked in, walked up a stand and enjoyed the ground before heading off for some beers. Good place.

You are out of your mind Teso. If your into the whole racism thing and downright nasty chants then yes Ibrox may be a better place to watch a game. "Up to our knees in Fenian blood" give me a fn break. Celtic fans have more class and have a better atmosphere. How can we rig a poll also it just shows you our fans have more spirit than any other lame Scottish club.

A truely pathetic response, as expected. Particularly coming from a supporter of a club that chants IRA songs. In fact, being a supporter you actively fund bigotry. Hope you feel proud. Celtic fans are a disgrace to Scotland (Ireland, or wherever the hell they come from). Same with Rangers fans. At the end of the day you are both as bad as each other. One area where Rangers are better though is in atmosphere. You might not like the content but it beats your mob hands down. The real question should be why do you support them?
* Note: I hate both sets of bigoted bastards

Indeed. Was hard not to roll my eyes walking past Celtic merchandise the other day and seeing the Republic's flag on it. ********ing plastics.
