The purpose of this poll is to vote on a Revs supporters anthem. The choices were taken from previous threads dicussing this topic and narrowed down on this thread: http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=389272

Here are examples of each:

"New England" by Jonathan Richman http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lA_jec_MpkU

"Won't Back Down" by Tom Petty http://youtube.com/watch?v=YokNQw_eK6Y

"Revolution" by The Beatles http://youtube.com/watch?v=wVHuFuyFoUI

"Dirty Water" by The Standells http://youtube.com/watch?v=f1sJ1JTrsM8

All on youtube. Let me know if any links are dead. I'll search for mp3 links by request.

I made the poll public as to try to avoid another 1836 situation. I don't want a DC/NY/LA, etc... supporter weighing in on this. We'll know which votes to throw out.

thanks for doing this. I tried to rep you, but

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Chowda again.

that's "new england"? we sing that already. I had no clue it was a real song.
I knew I was rather clueless, but.....

I heard it during BP at Fenway in may. I thought revs fans were just really creative up until then.

We chant it, rather than sing it. The first "whoa new england" should sound differently than the one right after it.

I actually like how the live version goes when he sings:

Dumdy, Dum.... I love new england
Dumdy, Dum.... Whoa new england

i don't know about that new england song it seems a lil folk music-ish and a lil soft. not tough enough. we need a song with at least a lil bit of grit. some clubs have the whole stadium sing some 1940's showtunes and they just sound ridiculous, not enough of an adrenaline rush.

That is why I have to vote "None of the above". They all lack a sort of adrenaline rush quality to them.

Weren't you the one who suggested a song from 1740? I guess we can blame the French and Indian War on adrenaline.;)

1740 was a very good year.

Coincidentally, I just got the email I was waiting for about this song. Not as fitting as I had expected, but here is a link for the curious.

I was hung up on the Richman and the Beatles song. I played both many times and came to my conclusion on the Beatles.

"Oh New England" as allot going for it since its already a chant. But this is what actually turned me away from it. The best parts of the song is the chorus, and after listening to it a few time I realized that the chorus is like 90% of the song. which brings me to my second point...

The richman song has too few lyrics for me. Please dont quote me and say that fewer lyrics are easier to learn. The whole purpose of this project is to have one long song that we can sing at the begging, middle, and maybe end. Everyone seems to love YNWA, and that this is wicked long. But guess what it sounds great.

The Beatles song is long, its popular, it will sound great once every one gets it, and its synonymous with the Revs due to it being apparently over played at rev games (and its title).

I disagree that a song needs to pump up the adrenaline, it just needs to have good lyrics which "Revolution" has.

final comments: by taking "Oh New England" we will be replacing a chant, and the new one will be just the same thing with 2-3 very short versus tucked in. By taking "Revolution" we get a full fledge song and we still get to chant that heart and soul of Jon Richmans song. Simple math really, 2 chants is better then 1!

I'll bring my breakdance mat to the game. After the game, we can have a rock off in the circle.:)

Hey, you're a mod so you might know this: How come there are three votes for "revolution" that don't have usernames under them? Can people vote if they aren't logged in?

Should I dismiss these votes?

I would never be able to sing that Beatles song after it was absolutely
butchered at Foxboro Stadium

Once again, its best to have a song that is relative to New England. So, maybe we should play this on the Jumbotrons to reminds everyone how we New Englander's role

Just for the record I did a quick search and found a faster, more up beat cover version on Johnathon Richmonds New England song by 'Big D and the kids table'. For those who were saying lack of adrenaline, this has a little more of a punch to it.
