View Full Version : Chelsea Fc Blue Day Out: How I think it went

I was one of the 12,500 spectators who attended the blue day out situated at stamford bridge consisting of a team photo, recording of a new song and general squad training session.

Before anything there was the introduction of the chelsea squad for the 2006/07 season, coming out were each player one at a time being interviewed briefly by the presenter of the show: Johnny Vaughan, and then they would go have their individual player photo done with the chelsea photographer taken with the premiership trophy. Few welcome points 2 raise were that of gallas, who came on sporting the number 3 shirt previously of del horno, he made his entrance on 2 the pitch 2 the sound of light booing which as he came on 2 the pitch was replaced by a standing ovation as he came in 2 the centre circle and applauded the fans 4 several minutes while the fans did the same 4 him. Other main points of this section included the introduction of new boys: Kalou, Obi Mikel, Hilario, Shevchenko and Ballack who all seemed very happy with the reception from the crowd, while all did thank the crowd and supporters nicely. Obviously there was the standing ovations for both english boys: Lampsy and JT who were as always polite and overjoyed with the fans. There were 2 absentee's from the squad introductions these were of course Hernan Crespo who left 4 Inter the same day and Joe Cole who was subject 2 the results of his knee scan, BUT joey did appear present for the squad photo and as the players left their positions for the photo, everyone spotted joe who seemed 2 have hid himself when the squad went 2 their seats. So, Joe was spotted and as the crowd realised his presence ringing around the ground was the chants "He's here, He's there, He's every f'in where, JOEY COLE, JOEY COLE!" and he did acknowledge the crowd momentarily clapping every1 which was nice 2 see as a supporter.

Firstly, the team photo was a slight dissappiontment on both chelsea and adidas' parts as the fans not sporting the new adidas home shirt were not welcome in the record breaking biggest ever squad photo. Just 2 inform i DID have a new adidas chelsea home shirt and was included in the final photo. Personally, i believe this part of proceedings wasnt organised 2 what it should have been, at times it did feel like being in a school photo as the co-ordinator had 2 remind every1 of the rules of no running down the aisles, no pulling funny faces or poses, etc which at the time was slightly annoying as there were many young children at the event, but luckily it all just about went 2 plan and the picture was executed satisfactory standard.

The recording of the new chelsea song was also slightly not well organised, as the crowd had 2 chant a particular phrase in this case being "Championees, Championees, OLE OLE OLE" that was all that was actually recorded as we were informed the song just needed an authentic crowd chanting backing sound 2 the actual main song which we did get 2 hear a small clip of. To describe the sound of the song it seemed quite modern with a dance beat and the accompanying of the chanting but best 2 wait til the finished product 2 reli judge anything.

And lastly the training session itself, seemed 2 run quite smoothly without any serious accidents or injuries with the exception of mayb once where JT had stopped clutching a part of his leg but he eventually got back 2 his feet and carried on without any more such problems or niggles. Basing the training on player performance, i still believe lampard and ballack need more time 2 gel as a unit as well as drogba and shevchenko because both pairs need 2 get their understandings clear ready 4 the start of the new season. Impressive performances in the final big training game were by Lassana Diarra, John Obi Mikel, Saloman Kalou, Wayne Bridge, Paulo Ferreira, Shaun Wright-Philips these players seemed 2 catch my eye on their performance alone in that match, players i have not mentioned did play do very well 2. But sadly 2 me, both Ballack and Shevchenko do not seem 2 have reached match fitness yet, Shevchenko seemed quite unreactive at times and the understanding with drogba still needs time 2 be honest as for Ballack he seemed comfortable on the ball but tackling wise he seemed 2 wreckless which might mean conceding fouls more easily 2 the oppposition in his case but i hope this isnt the case obviously. Probably both players will excel in the chelsea line-up and i can see that happening easily just getting 2 there will b interesting of course.

All in all a very enjoyable event 2 attend as a chelsea supporter, when another such event arises i recommend registering 4 tickets fast as they do sell within 2 days at the most.

Great write up but next time, just type one more letter and write TO instead of 2. Using the number is really annoying.

my mates was there and he said the highlights were "Watching Billy Gallas seemingly putting the past few weeks behind him. Watching Kalou and Hilario looking good. Watching a couple of the youngsters looking more than accomplished, Bertrand I think his name was, looking like a young Rio Ferdinand without the crap football. Watching SWP burn up Paolo. Watching Petr Cech warm up in front of us and the funny keeping coach who cheered himself every time he scored."

Yeah he looked like he belonged there. Another JT type character diving into Sheva and Ballack like they were bloke who came along for a kick about. Talent and heirs and graces meant nothing to the guy
