Lads, what do you know of Terry Dixon? He's just been named to the Irish senior squad for the second time, in what is to most Irish supporters a baffling decision by Steve Staunton. He hasn't been capped at U-21 level by us, and as far as I know hasn't even played for the Spurs reserves. Have you heard of him? Just how highly rated is he?

Heard of him but never seen him play. Here's an old article about him:

Other than that, I know he's played (and scored) in the preseason for our young XI team. Apparently he's had some pretty good performances for them. Seems to be a promising young player, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Never seen him play but he is supposed to be very very good. Not sure how much you'll see him next season.

From what I've heard this is more to do with tying him to Ireland as he definitely has the option of playing for England, not sure about the other home countries.

does seem like a good prospect, but there's no guarantee that scoring goals and doing well at youth level or even reserve level will lead to first team success.

Perhaps, he's English born with an English father (who apparantly wanted him to play for England). The FA have been putting all sorts of pressure on him to defect to them.

hopefully they'll do the same with Nolan, although I think he'll be in the England squad against Greece.
As for Dixon, he's played extraordinarily well for the Spurs Youth teams. I think, not positive, that he has played very well for the reserve team, but is being treated with kid gloves. Apparently the most Clive will let him play is one half of a game.
EDIT: I just read the BBC article. In Ireland, it was the Dixon on the back page and Walcott inside the paper when they were named to their respective national teams.

I'm sure he will be playing in the reserves this season, he has been playing in the Tottenham XI (youth/reserves/1st team players coming back) this pre-season and has scored a couple of goals.

I think his favourite position is just behind the striker, he also has the build of Wayne Rooney if he is half as good then he would do ok. We haven't had a good striker come through the youth team for ages.

He's a great talent but's got a "difficult" temprament. Yes, he can choose between England and Ireland so Eire are trying to tied him down.
Will be interesting to see his progress this season.

Staunton has called him the best 16 year old in England or Ireland, so at the very least he's got to be pretty decent. Apparently he'll play some part in the Holland game.

Looking forward to seeing the kid play, particularly if he's good enough to play for ireland at 16. He does have ginger hair however

That'd be good, no point bringing kids into the squad if you're going to look at them in training and not play them (eh Sven). This is the second time Dixon has been in the Ireland squad. It'd be nice if we see him in some Spurs squads during the season!

you have to anticipate the gingerness, being that he's irish.

One of the Spurs message boards was talking about having a contest with when Dixon will make his Spurs debut.

He got taken off after 6 minutes against Dover complaining of a 'sore knee' tonight.

I know of Terry Dixon, friend of a friend, seems like an alright guy despite what some might say.Being a spurs fan i have been following his progress-he has only joined spurs on a full time basis this summer which is why he has not featured, but has regularly played for the under 18s, scoring quite a few goals.Him and a fellow acadamy player from last year who also played often for the under 18s-jake livermore are definately two for the future. If ireland can hold on to Terry Dixon it would be a great accomplishment, because if he continues to progress the way he has done under spurs, he will be an irish star in the future.

Spurs released him this season I think. He kept having major injuries. Shame really given all the hype.

Yep, the poor kid is crocked. Great prospect, done before he even got started :(
