YIPPEE!! I never got into the Dreamcast while it was still in production, but recently I decided I wanted one. After almost wrangling a couple of deals with friends I was getting discouraged that I'd have to pay those stupid shipping costs on ebay. Well, walked into my local EB and there it was; a stack of dreamcasts, nintendo 64s, and PS1s, used systems on sale for 29.99 each. And they threw in a free game. So I added a second, brand new, controller for just 4 more bucks and I'm set!

So far I only have NBA 2K2 and Unreal Tournament, but knowing me there will be a pile of games before too long.

So, my question is what games should I go for for this system? As I said, I never got into it so I have pretty much no clue what titles are worth digging up on ebay or in the discount bins at the gaming stores.

My collection is up to six systems now: NES, Sega Genesis, Sega Gamegear, Sega Dreamcast, PS1 and PS2

WOHOO!! What a geek! :D

I'll ask my friend Brad...he has one and a bunch of games. I did play Virtual Tennis (I think that was the name) and loved it. Lots of fun.

The only game I still play on my Dreamcast is Street Fighter Alpha 3. I think it's a great game, but if you don't like fighting games don't bother.

I love fighting games. It all started with Street Fighter and now I'm attempting to master Marvel vs. Capcom 2...good stuff

You should definitely get Powerstone and Powerstone 2. They're free-roaming fighting games that play different than any other in the genre. Shenmue is also worth the look if you're into RPG-like adventure games.

Jet Grind Radio(skating adventure)
Soul Calibur(fighting)
Worms Armageddon/or World Party(strategy)
Skies of Arcadia(rpg)
Grandia 2(rpg)

These are just a few of the great titles that the mainstream never cared about. Hope you find some you like.

I got a Dreamcast last year. Enjoyed Soul Calibur and Whacky Racers (racing game with crazy cartoon graphics based on the old Hanna-Barbera cartoon called The Whacky Race).

Looks like the non-soccer games forum has some life finally! :)

I just picked up Star Wars Episode One Racer and its pretty cool.

They guy at EB suggested that I do my best to track down a copy of Soul Calibur. He said if and WHEN they get a copy it only lasts a day or two before someone picks it up.

Thanks for the suggestions so far, keep it up!
In other news I also picked up a blue, used, VMU unit that works great. Paid six bucks for it and its guarunteed. So if it breaks I can go and pick up a brand new one for $9.99. Honestly though this one looks barely used and works fine so far, so...

Game tally now stands at 3:

Unreal Tournament
Star Wars Episode One Racer
NBA 2K2

I also think I'm going to trade in my copy of Final Fantasy 10 for PS2 and get a game or two for the dreamcast. Maybe.

you know, I thought you were just jokin at first. The title alone sounds goofy. Then I figured, what the hey, maybe it is cool. So they have a couple of copies of this game at EB, and it looks as silly as I thought it might be just based on the name.

Are you bein' serious? And if so why? Cause I can get it for ten bucks.

I am serious... I love the game. For a good description, see the gamespot review at Amazon. Basically it is a puzzle game involving helping space mice (chu chu's) in their fight against nasty space cats (kapu kapu's) -- but while on a cocaine binge.

I added a new game this weekend: Skies of Arcadia. I haven't played it as of yet, just got home from a road trip to Orlando, but I've heard some good stuff about it.

So far I am of the opinion that it was, and still is, a great system. IMO, it could have competed with the current crop of consoles based on actual performance, but I'm not sure it could have kept up with the hype of systems like the PS2 or X-Box.

So what!! Right now all the Electronic Boutique's in my area are carying Pre-owned dreamcasts for 29.99, I've also seen them for 39.99 (and they also are carrying piles of Nintendo 64s and PS1's, both great systems). There are piles of pre-owned games for dirt cheap at all the gaming stores in Tampa and I would figure its the same deal in any other city of size. Get out there, pick up a dreamcast and get with it! Currently I can't put Unreal Tournament down.
