Didn't they do this study in the '50s? And '60s? And 70s? And 80s? And 90s?
:D

So kids listen to raunchy music and it makes them have sex? Uh huh, sure it does.

You could blast Debbie Gibson albums all day at teenagers, and they'd still have sex....or at least try to.

Yawn.
Maybe it's the fact that kids that have sex already want to listen to songs about sex and not the other way around.

No no, you got it backwards! When a teenager listens to a song about sex, he rushes out and has sex with other teenagers who listened to the same song.
And Judas Priest causes kids to commit suicide!

Seems like a perfect time to bust out his classic...

Probably more likely that the kids who are already having sex listen to music that validates their lifestyles and makes them feel "grown".
Sex is also considered an activity most parents do not want their kids involved in. Kids, being stupid enough to think that whatever their parents tell them not to do must be good for them, are bound to engage.
And the main issue no one wants to address (because there's no way to change it) is that 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 year-old kids were screwing in the 18th and 19th centuries- It's just that a whole bunch of them were already married in those times, especially the little girls. OTOH, a 20 year-old who gets married these days is asking for a divorce or a bad marriage, but he or she has been physically ready to procreate for more than half a decade. It's not the age of sexual activity that's changed so much- it's the age at which kids are emotionally and financially ready to handle marriage and independence in a 21st century world.

Maybe the kids just like listening to music while having sex.

The title of this is wrong. It should be 'music makes kids WANT to have sex'. Getting it is a whole different matter.

I've had more sex without music on. What does that mean?
Jesus, kids have been screwing for ages. The only way to stop it is to make your kid a monster geek, and even then there's no guarantee.
Re: Auriapottu's statement about getting married at 20. Both my wife and I were 20 when we got married. Still going strong after 10 challenging but happy years. My brother and sister both got married in their late 20s. Brother's on his second marriage (sort of) and my sister is on her third.
I'm not sure there's statistics out there to prove marriage longevity if one marries later in life. Sorry for the sidetrack.

Or to make them sign virginity pledges.
Oh, wait. That doesn't work.

I shouldn't have generalized. Certainly there are strong marriages that started when both people were very young, and you should be proud to be able to say you're in one. But I do think modern times dictate that people wait a bit before taking that plunge. There are so many more experiences out there today that can change people (in positive ways as well as negative) that the compatibility a couple can share at 20 may no longer exist at 25 or 30.
I don't think it's off-topic at all or even a sidetrack, because the folks making such a fuss over this "trend" aren't considering that lots more people get married later in life these days than they did generations ago, and lots more never marry at all. What they're really obsessing over isn't teen sex, but teen premarital sex.

For us, the marriage is what changed us in a positive way. Change is really what this is about. I had to change. So did my wife. Fortunately we changed together and grew together because we chose us over our individuals. I'm proud but also cognizant that what we have is rare, regardless of what age group we're in. That's sad. Society is full of selfish people that can't break away from their individual long enough to build a more satisfying relationship with another.
My wife and I didn't wait before marriage. Our parents didn't wait before marriage. Our grandparents didn't wait before marriage. And I highly doubt my great-grandparents waited. That's just the way things are. The best way to protect society from this conduct (which can and does have some serious repurcutions) is education. Take the pill, wear a condom, and for god's sake, get checked out by your physician. It's pretty damn simple. Americans overcomplicate one of the most basic human acts.
Having sex is natural. Remove the stigma and it no longer becomes this forbidden fruit in America where kids feel it's the ultimate form of rebellion.

Agreed on all counts.

Yeah, but that would give the Right one less thing to whine about. And, quiet as it's kept, it would make sex just a bit less fun. A part of the fun of sex, and not just in the minds of kids or singles, is the "naughty" aspect.

Truth is rock and roll's been turning kids on since Elvis started swinging his hips.
