Yeah. It's about a billion times better than FIFA; I'm glad I made the switch.

Yeah, I've played it a few times. My buddy keeps fouling Gerrard until he goes off, but Luis Garcia has scored some big goals for me. Sometimes video games do imitate real life!

Welcome to the darkside. Now I am waiting anxiously for the new season and our improved stats. I'll be getting the PAL version in October...can't wait.

American PS2. I use a swap disk and I modded the box on my PS2 to be bale to do so. This way I can play the PES [PAL] games in October instead of WE in May.

Yea end of October it is released in the UK. It is released for Asia in August.
The American release is a slightly fixed up version though and has minor changes. But I just dont see the point in getting it the last month of the season.

I'm a big fan of the game, but I'd just wish they'd change the free kicks. It's nearly impossible to score on them from any spot on the field. The old FIFA way of free kicks was great (though the rest of the game sucks ass).
I also thought the fouling in the most recent version was pretty absurd.

It is hard but rewarding when you do score. There are tricks as well, none of which I use or mastered.

I've scored exactly one goal in WE of free kicks. I just think it defeats the purpose and rewards the defense for playing cheaply around the goal.
The FIFA method (the old one, anyway) was great. It certainly wasn't easy to score, but from a good spot you could hit about 1 in 10.

I can get shots on target from almost any angle and any distance. I think the biggest problem I have faced with the system is the keeper. They are just too good. I should probably score about 1 in 15 but that 1 tends to get miraculously saved.
You need to develop a feel for taking them. It isn't easy. I have played 3 PES games and am just now really dialing them in so to speak. Holding R1 makes for a more accurate but slower ball. It is good when trying to hit bottom corners from in close. Never underestimate a good worm burner from a tight angle. Anything outside of 45' on goal and you should be drilling them along the grass and looking for tip-ins and surprises.
My biggest gripe would be that guys rarely initiate or follow through with good runs. This absolutely kills the indirect kick feature. You've basically got to hit them in the head to score. Very seldom do they attack a flighted ball.

Very true. Just today i shot a perfect shot went over the wall and dropped perfectly into the top right corner. I mean it could not have been more perfect, and the goalie got there easily.

I scored on a free kick not too long ago, but I can usually come pretty close or make the keeper knock it out for a corner.
My two biggest problems are the ridiculous penalty calls that they make, and the fact that it's very difficult to play a ball into the box, because the keeper always grabs it.

Play a ball into the box on freekicks you mean? I just try to keep them low and direct. Loft and bend aren't very good, unless I am crossing the whole of the 18y box with the pass.

Best footy game ever made. I've been playing since PES for PS1.

No, I'm talking about a long ball from free play about 30-40 yards out. Unless it's out to the side, it's pretty much impossible to play a long ball near the goal.

Yea, I always play the sqaure ball or the through pass down the wing. Or like stated I blast it cross field to the far corner and hope I find a runner.

It's a kool game, me and my friends sometimes put $20 each and play a tournament(round robin) and winner takes all. If there was a way to play it online with people all over the world,,, I would in a heart beat.
