So we get to play Westwood High for a trip to Glendale?

I love it!

Provided we don't get screwed we will be meeting the Buckeyes for the national championship. They are good but if we play the way we have played the last few weeks it will be game over.

Fight On!

Now the question is:

Who plays OSU for the Nat'l Championship?

I say Florida. I'd rather watch that than OSU/UM II.

******** the world. This is upsetting that we have to play boring ass Michigan again. Pete looked mighty pissed off after the UCLA game. We'll beat Michigan and keep this loss in the back of our minds. All hell's going to break loose when Westwood High comes to the Coliseum next year. After that celebration SC will win by 80.

Congrats to Wake I was pulling for them. I really like that QB Riley Skinner he's a gamer for being a RS Freshman. Also like that LB Jon Abbate who had I believe 15 tackles in the GT game. He's a beast. They are going to have their hands full with Louisville though. BW any chance you make the trip down to Florida?

Abbate's story kicks ass, for the record. Saw it on ESPN before they played Maryland. The way all the Wake fans hold up five after the third quarter is powerful.

I'm trying to manage my budget to see if I can afford 1 plane ticket + 1 game ticket + 1 hotel room etc etc. Hopefully it'll happen since I missed the ACC Championship. This may one of the only times in my life Wake plays in the Orange Bowl!

Abbate is a beast, true. Our CB's are undersized though, and Louisville has a killer passing game. Josh Gattis, one of our safeties, is also a beast though. By the way, did you see Willie Idlette's block that made the ENTIRE crowd go "Ooooo...!!" It was amazing. Skinner's the man as well, showed a LOT of poise for a RS Frosh playing in his hometown (great for him, btw). I had no idea who he was before this season...at least now we finally have a solid QB for the next few years.

Sorry about SC, I was looking forward to the OSU/SC game.

I hope you can get there. If it helps I have found out that going through the school is the cheapest way. Most schools offer a package with airfare and hotel. I was on the LSU site trying to help my Grandpa get tickets to their bowl game a week ago and that's what they had. Tickets are 125-135 bucks from the schools for the BCS games. The only problem is you have to enter a lottery to get the tickets. The tickets are given out by like booster priority so you better throw your name in. It might not be too late. Most schools only get 15-20,000 though.

To kind of go along with Tigerdave's comment what is Abbate's story?

I still think SC could have given Ohio State the best game.

I found this interesting story about Wake. Thought BW and some others might find it interesting. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/sioncampus/12/04/wake.fan/index.html

Wow, I've seen that kid around campus. Cool story. A friend of mine sat in front of him during the game...she said he started crying when Wake won. Good stuff. Those are man tears!

That was a fun game to watch, especially the trick plays on both 4th downs. Wow!

I know they won it with gadget 'WAC' plays, but they hit Oklahoma in the mouth for the better part of 60 minutes. That was what really, really impressed me. Boise State isn't the new BYU, by any means. It'll be interesting to see what they can do in replacing all those seniors. Good thing they have Johnson for at least another year.

I wouldn't be too worried about losing Zabransky. I think the guy is an NFL talent if he learns to consistently stay within himself, but they've got this kid from Prosser (Wash.) coming in this class. He's about 6'1" and 180, so a little undersized, but probably he's the most decorated high-school passer Washington has ever seen.

Kellen Moore of Prosser owns five state high-school passing records:

2003 4/9 56 yds 1 TD 1 INT
2004 179/308* 2,442 yds 39 TD 11 INT
2005 317/479 4,600* yds 66 TD 15 INT
2006 287/399 4,269 yds 67* TD 7 INT

Career 787*/1,195 11,367 yds 173* TD 34 INT

* - Washington state record

I think Boise will be alright at the quarterback position for a while. The real problem will be finding heart and soul in that defense, replacing that linebacking corp.

You're right and they did it by establishing a 14-0 lead and a 21-10 HT advantage. Mistakes allowed the Sooners back into the game but they believed in themselves and fought back. That game was freaking awesome to watch and of course I was rooting for the underdog to win it. Congrats to Boise State.

How bout them Trojans. :D

The Rose Bowl today and Emerald Bowl earlier this week truly proved how much of a ********ing fluke that UCLA game really was. Pity, SC is going to beat UCLA by 45 next year.

As far as Boise goes I love how they play. Reminds me of my other team the Runnin' Utes of Utah. (My Dad played there.) When Utah made the Fiesta Bowl after that amazing 11-0 regular season they got rewarded by playing a terrible Pitt team and tearing them to shreds. Did we want Auburn? Yep. Would we have beaten Auburn? Who knows but I would have watched it. Now, I have to hear Zabransky and these guys mouth off about how they want a shot at Ohio State. Newsflash! OU was the best of a weak Big 12. Boise couldn't beat SC, Michigan, Florida, LSU, Louisville or a host of other teams to even get to the Buckeyes. Could Utah have? No, but I would love to see Boise battle Utah from 2 years ago with Alex Smith. You want trick plays and high scores? You would have it.

I think Ian Johnson said it best when he said they were happy to be in the BCS, and they played to win that game and earn respect. He wasn't about to say they deserved a shot at Ohio State because they were undefeated. I don't think Boise State could hold a candle to Ohio State, USC, LSU or Florida, but I will argue that they could beat teams like Louisville and perhaps Wake Forest and Notre Dame. They firmly belong in that tier right behind those other four.

However, by the same token, this Boise State team would have destroyed that Utah team. Boise State's team is more physical, more talented, and more balanced between run-pass and both sides of the ball than was that Utah team. The Broncos' defense straight made Oklahoma give up on the run game in the first half. Yes they were worn down late, but that was a product of fresh Peterson legs and a team that hadn't run the ball with any effect in the first half.

Louisville not so much but ND and Wake I think is the right spot.

I absolutely disagree. That Utah team was a physical bunch ,and absolutely dominant. That Utah defense was filled with head hunters on defense and not to mention their special teams were out of this world. There were maybe 2 or 3 teams in the whole country that could have hoped to stop Utah's offense. They had defeated three schools from BCS conferences, two of which participated in bowl games, by an average of 22 points. No opponent came within two touchdowns of the Utes that year. Boise and them would have been a good game but I think Zabransky is too much of a head case to have done well against Utah's defense that year. Steve Fifita, Morgan Scalley, Eric Weddle, and Zach Toone (no relation) all were integral parts of that defense that in the 2005 Fiesta sacked Tyler Palko nine times.
